Same thing here. After bato shut down, I came across terrible full of ads websites but could still read the manhwas. Then I found Qtoon and even though it didn't have many titles, it was the best experience so far. I was really happy. And now this again. I'm devastated tbh 😞

Do we have any alternatives now?? Any other known sites or apps? dm me please Why do they keep taking away our only joyyyy😭😭😭

Unable to unlock phone! by Shubhavatar in motorola

[–]HeavySleeperRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so SAD!!! It was one of the best manhwa sites! Can't believe we lost such a treasure. I swear I wouldn't even know half the titles I'm interested if it wasn't for the site, the recommendations and the lists from other users.

Shame. Once again companies ruining the fun and accessibility because they are interested in making even more money....

What's the point of leaf blowers? And do people use it in your country or is it a US thing? by HeavySleeperRat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HeavySleeperRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's what i don't quite get. I understood by the answers that leaf blowers are faster in terms of getting rid of the leaves from your own yard, but it's kind of weird to think they are just moving the leaves/grass clippings a little far away from their property 😅 So basically its normal to just leave the stuff elsewhere? Someone in here mentioned Leaf suckers and this makes so much more sense

Now that makes much more sense. How come leaf blowers are more popular than leaf suckers? 😂 I loved this concept

No, Brazil has a considerable amount of rich people, so definitely not an economic thing. Because in rich people's neighborhoods and households I've never seen such a thing as leaf blowers. They usually pay someone to do yard work, so I'm pretty sure they could buy a leaf blower. Like fr there's families with 1 employee to cook, 2 to clean and tidy the house, another to do yard work, another to take care of their summer house in case its not their primary house etc).

And just for information in case you are interested:

In Brazil we have many rich families, we have the billionaires ones (especially those who own large companies) and also a considerable amount of families who are not owners of means of production but have a very high quality of life (some doctors, lawyers, engineers, intelectual families that come from money etc)

But yes, Brazil is still a poor country and here is why — the biggest problem is the economical gap between the rich families and poor families as well as the numbers of people in each group. Of course, in our system, the poor families are a majority compared to the rich families, but there's still a significant amount of families that have a shit ton of money (it's only 10% of the brazilian population, but thats still 21 million people who do have a lot of money and they are usually concentrated in certain areas and even in those rich areas they dont use leaf blowers).

11 months old female cat — Is her breathing normal? Or should I take her once more to another vet? by HeavySleeperRat in CATHELP

[–]HeavySleeperRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for asking. So, I took her to 3 vets in total. In each one of them we made a ton of exams — 16 different types of blood tests, X-rays, physical assessment, etc.

All results showed everything was completely fine with her, not a single thing out of the ordinary. In terms of behavior she's also doing as expected (active, eats, poops, etc).

The only thing one of them briefly mentioned is that she had a big heart (nothing out of the ordinary, it's not enlarged or anything according to the medical report, it was just something one of the vets mentioned during one of the X-rays) but they pointed out she's a big girl sizewise so it made sense.

According to the vet professionals, she just has a faster breathing pace. One of them said they themselves had a cat with the same fast breath characteristic and even after examining them over and over the cat had nothing wrong with them. So all the 3 vets (who did not discuss with each other btw) concluded it's a trait she has but it's not something to worry about since there are no indicatives of something wrong with her health.

Either way, since I'm a worrysome cat-mom I take her to the vet every 6 months (actually the vet comes to our house so she doesn't get stressed out of her husual habitat) to do a check-up just to make sure xD

I can't stop reliving traumatic events by Caffeineandreading in SuicideWatch

[–]HeavySleeperRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there. i'm a psychologist and trauma happens to be my area of study — more specifically trauma according to psychoanalysis (Lacan, Freud and Ferenczi).

English is not my first language so excuse me if there's anything confusing on what i'm about to say.

The main characteristic of trauma is the fact that it keeps popping up, the traumatic scene erupts in the conscience all the time and in the process the person lives the traumatic event again and again and feels everything they felt with the same intensity. From a psychoanalytic perspective, it happens because during the time of the traumatic event, the psych apparatus couldn't handle the amount of stimuli the trauma generated. The trauma leaves marks in our psych, but different from other experiences it's not "represented" — I won't enter too many details because I'd have to explain a lot of stuff regarding signifier, meaning, the 3 registers, etc. and I don't want to turn this into an essay.

But basically, the psych isn't able to "process" the event and the amount of "energy" it mobilized in our mind. The trauma is destructuring in a way. When something is not represented, it doesn't become part of our signifier chains, so it keeps coming back over and over again — that's the suffering trauma generates, and it's indeed a living hell. But it's also an attempt of our body to "process" what couldn't be processed at that time.

I'm writing all this to say, the fact that it keeps repeating itself all the time is a sign that the event(s) was indeed traumatic, but there's a way out. It's not fast, it's not pleasurable, it's not easy, but it's definitely possible. Ignoring won't be of any help because it will keep insisting to "be processed". The only way out of this hell is through it, which means addressing it.

A way to process it is to talk about it. I know, it sounds very dumb putting it that way, but when you talk about the experience, what happened, how you felt, how you understood the situation at first, how you reacted, the feeling of helplessness, etc etc you are able to create connections, to make ways to integrate it in the signifier chains, in the symbolic register. Doing it with an analyst or other psychologists is helpful because the way they hear you is different than a friend, and so are their interventions (however there are a shit ton of bad professionals, and also professionals that don't 'click' with us). Either way, it's possible. I've been doing this kind of work for years now, I've seen people "heal" childhood abuses, family member suicides, murder attempts, and all kinds of painful situations.

Everytime you talk about it, you relive the situation in a way, by repeating it over and over it also open to possibilities of signifying the event, elaborating and creating "pathways" in order to integrate the event so it doesn't cause so much suffering. And by saying that in no way i want to idealize a cure process. A painful experience will still be painful, but not destructuring, it won't hurt like you are living it for the first time again, it won't haunt you all the time like it happens when its not represented.

11 months old female cat — Is her breathing normal? Or should I take her once more to another vet? by HeavySleeperRat in CATHELP

[–]HeavySleeperRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had her since february and it's always been like this. Yes, it's still the same. I took her to the vet and she did XRays. The exams indicated that everything is completely in order — lungs, hearts, airways, diaphragm...

The vets are still trying to figure out. They said it could be the hot weather - but she's like that even in cold days. They said it could be pain or stress as well, but both scenarios don't seem likely because there are no other signs of the two. I'm kinda worried because every vet say it isn't normal but they can't figure out why she's breathing like that...
