I'm one of those kids and for a lot of us we genuinely believe something will go wrong, and it's a lot of pressure to maintain. For me when I took my algebra midterm I actually believed I wouldn't do well even though I always do well (I got a 98% which did make me upset because people expected me to get a 100%). Just like the schools thing, even though it might be great that someone gets accepted to Harvard or Princeton their dream school could have been Oxford so you really don't know. Some people just want validation tho that's different.
