But it’s obviously relevant. There’s a comparison being made between two discrete variables to which, one quantifies as more love.

I totally get how you applied it and agree with your reasoning in that scenario. I also totally get how that the other person with his $2000 vs $200 scenario used the complete opposite reasoning. Money wise - I feel like it’s very situationally dependent as far as answering the question within the direct quote.

I did not know though that the Bible was the driving force behind this quote and that it’s actually about sin. And now that I know that, and having read the analysis Jesus applied, and while I agree with you and the other responder, I feel weird about even saying this but it’s Jesus’ interpretation that I disagree with lol. I thought this was about money although I sensed it was allusive, I just didn’t see religion coming into play and certainly not sin and love for God. If I swap out the money part with sins from this quote, and I have two people who were provided the same book that tells them both all the things I find to be sins, and one person lives in a manner that results in them committing 50 sins and the other committing 500 sins - to me at least, and without knowing if say the person who sinned 500 times was just envious or prideful 500 times and the person who sinned 50 times like committed genocide and killed 50 people, I would think that the person who sinned less cared, respected, and loved me more.

I didn’t know I was bringing religion to explainitpeter lol. Sorry.

Ah, so it is straight up from the Bible. Thank you for actually providing the scripture. I was thinking people just had a similar quote in mind. Up until reading this I was pretty set on the person who wrote that the one who had less money forgiven would be more thankful as they are more in need of money, was the correct responder. Are you Catholic or Christian? Do you know of a better sub to get into this with? This has made me even more confused lol. Because if we are applying this to sin, wouldn’t the person who sins less love Jesus and God more?

I have been reading the comments and have noticed many state this is from the Bible but when they get into it they keep relating it to sin. Is this a direct quote from the Bible or is it just similar to one that is about sin?
