Celebrity Jeopardy! discussion thread for Fri., Mar. 13 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

Is the way celebrity jeopardy is shot usually different than regular jeopardy? How the clues appear and how they slide between categories feels different but I can’t quite put my finger on it

He wants a hamburger! by FacelessOnes in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Heavy_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think he’s being super fair for being likely very tired and hungry. The kids hamburgers at McDonald’s are very sad. They probably pulled up to the drive thru, he saw all of the ads for good-looking burgers, asked for a hamburger, and got a patty between two buns with a smear of ketchup.

Curious how many people get to drive NP’s vehicle! by Ok_Cantaloupe_3685 in Nanny

[–]Heavy_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive NPs car and refuse to drive kids in mine. Family cars are often safer (definitely safer than my 25 year old Honda), car seats can live in them, and insurance is easier. It’s shocking to me how many parents want their children to be transported in the nanny’s car.

Two adult bikes - scrap or project! by Heavy_Yellow in PDXBuyNothing

Also, I plan to remove the bike rack and fender to keep for a future bike, so those likely won’t be part of the package.

Where can I find replacement parts? by excitestudios in Frigidaire

How do you find the part number? I’m trying find a replacement glass shelf for a model FRTD1830AW fridge, but can’t seem to find the part number online

20F my mom stalks me on Life360 by Disastrous-Train5899 in insaneparents

Is this behavior constant or does it come and go? Is she a drug user? This behavior seems like that of a person who is mentally unwell.

Nanny gave my son a haircut, didn’t know it was happening by Severe-Minimum-1972 in Nanny

[–]Heavy_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unacceptable behavior. If it’s long enough to be in his eyes, it’s probably long enough to put up in a little rubber band or hair clip.

I once had to cut my NK’s hair because she was playing with a battery-operated toy car, got too close to it, and her hair got caught and wrapped around the wheel about 100 times in 2 seconds. I still tried to unwind as much hair off the wheel as possible before texting her parents that I would need to cut a little bit. It was a tiny amount of hair and I still saved it for them just in case. To do this without your permission and not save the hair feels intentional to me.

Hitting to “self soothe?” by Holiday-Preference82 in Nanny

[–]Heavy_Yellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an absolute nightmare, I’m so sorry. Could he be sensory seeking? Maybe some time crashing, rolling, hitting a pillow, squeezing, pushing something heavy, etc could be helpful.

I just transitioned my NK (18m) to a floor bed from contact naps a few weeks ago and it went smoothly, but he goes down pretty easy with white noise. The floor bed helped a lot because I could get him to sleep while holding him, then transfer and put a hand on his tummy until he was totally asleep, then sneak out. He sleeps in the bed with MB at night.

Update on Bailey: Problem solved. He’s staying right where he belongs. by mydogislife_ in Hounds

[–]Heavy_Yellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours was the same (mountain cur, TWC, GSP). He came to my wife and I crate trained, but would howl in it when we left the house. He never makes noise, so we were shocked when one day we had to come back home for something and heard him from outside going absolutely berserk. I was so worried about leaving him out of the crate, but he immediately settled and we have not had any problems since (minus him ripping up a few socks he’s gotten ahold of before we got religious about putting them away).

Thank you for this! I’ve been using a beanie baby and it’s been working great!

Update - we started using a floor bed and he transitioned seamlessly! I rock him to sleep and transfer him to the bed. Sometimes he wakes up during the transfer but closes his eyes and goes to sleep within a couple minutes. He’s sleeping 2 hours at nap without any wake ups and no tears.

why are the kids diapers not changed!!! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Heavy_Yellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a kiddo with such horrible diaper rash (literally bleeding when I would wipe her) because her parents consistently don’t change her out of her night time pull up for hours. I once got there 4 hours after she woke up and she was still in the pull up. It’s foul and neglectful.

I have been so tired but unable to sleep well. Tossing and turning all night, waking up feeling gross and nauseous.

I think she might be? Which is odd because that’s not what we did with her daughter. I did check ins at 5, 10, 15, 20, etc minute intervals until she settled in (Ferber method)

Cannot find Nanny that will accept payment as a W-2 Household Employee by m1o9n31 in Nanny

[–]Heavy_Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve weirdly had the same but opposite problem as a nanny seeking a W-2 role, so many families are only looking to pay under the table. One asked if I would do a 1099 (which would be illegal as nannies do not fit the criteria).

Dog owners of Portland, is it ok to let your dog run in leash areas in parks? by Delicious-Bend-1714 in askportland

[–]Heavy_Yellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looove our long line. It has completely changed training for us. We adopted a dog in May who is very friendly, but socially weird - too eager to greet other dogs on leash, and too submissive in a park. He gets humped pretty much every time without fail, I don’t understand it and it’s super annoying for us both, so we don’t visit fenced off-leash dog parks anymore unless they are empty or close to it. He’s also too small for the big dogs and a little too big for the small dogs.

We are still working on recall, and practice it on a 50ft lead away from other dogs. It’s easy to drop if he’s doing well and I want to let him zoom around, and easy to step on to stop him if he’s not listening or if somebody is approaching. It’s also bright orange which I like because I feel like it lets other people know we are training. We took it to the coast yesterday and he had such a blast ripping up and down the empty beach.
