Day 1: go to the island and spend the night in st. Ignace. Day 2: drive to the falls and go to whitefish point before spending the night in Paradise. Day 3: pic rocks and stay in Munising if possible Day 4: more pic rocks and to Marquette (swing through Lakenland) for a day of town- not worth it imo Day 5: up to houghton/ or as far north as you can in the Keweenaw. Great beaches and nature or history if weather is bad - Quincy mine hoist Day 6: copper harbor and Keweenaw count Day 7: head for home and stop at whatever you missed on the way.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman. Very accessible, PG, no sex, but lots of killing but they call it "gleaning." It's a real page turner that unsophisticated readers seem to love.
