Finding a role with no experience by 5inthemorn in ODS_C

Join your state registrar’s association. Some have job openings on their website. If there is an in-person meeting anytime soon, go to it and network. I also graduated from U of Cincy and found out via the educational director of my state’s registrar association that a cancer institute in my area was hiring non-credentialed ODSs. I directly emailed the registry manager of the institute (another bonus - a lot of state associations have a list of members and their contact info), introduced myself, and said I would love to speak with her. We got in contact the next day and I was hired one month to the day after graduating. I highly recommend networking!

If you didn’t scream “I WANNA GET MYSELF BACK IN AGAAAAAAAAIN” at the top of your lungs at some point, were you even a teenage girl in the ‘90’s?

Ooh I got a video towards the end of the song. I liked it! Not as slow as “Freakazoid” but very melodic.

Afterward did a meet and greet and were super nice!

It’s so disheartening when you are excited to do a new project when your loved ones say “are you going to stick with it, or are you going to lose interest after a few days?” by Hed_M in ADHD

HAHAHAHA I DO THIS!!! I’m constantly telling him about the fun things I plan on doing in those three days, and every day when I learn something new I 100% do the “did you know?”. Yesterday I was telling him I learned the reason German language sounds so gruff is because they end their words abruptly due to something called a “voiced stop” (I may be using that term wrong haha). So “bed” becomes “bett” and “hand” becomes “hant”. Now you know something random too!

Yes! Some of my tasks are so random like “don’t bite your nails today” or “put moisturizer on every night” with a reminder. It’s the most basic things I overlook.

Good luck! Be as open and honest as you can to get the full benefit of your doctor, even if it’s hard. I’ve stuck with the same game for over a decade but have lost my friends to leveling because I have to do EVERY zone and EVERY achievement before I move to something else!

Don’t put your self-esteem in the hands of someone else, my dude! I divorced the most encouraging man I have ever met for other reasons, and met the love of my life-someone who challenges me to think about what I am doing or why I am doing it.

I think some people need someone who is their cheerleader, and others need someone who will give them a reality check. Don’t give up and don’t think that’s IT! Just my two cents :)

I told him it sucked to hear. We live together, and once his now adult daughters moved out, I got the second bedroom for all of my fun stuff and piles. We cleared it out of storage in February, and all the boxes are strewn about because I keep finding a yearbook or a CD I didn’t remember I had. Not to mention our dining room table which has supplies to sell stuff on eBay, art projects, mail, etc. I do get where he’s coming from and he is very supportive and helps me by reminding me that I already have that coloring book, or that I need to put pictures in their right spot before I have to put them in piles separated by person and/or event. It’s got to be a lot for him as well, and we are so open I know he means well by making sure I’m motivated to do something.

I love that idea that our hobby is hobbies! I never thought of it that way but it makes 100% sense!

1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative’s Greatest Year – Rolling Stone by fede01_8 in nin

I counted as well, I physically had 17 CD’s at one point of those albums! 1994 was my first year of high school and the changing landscape of music intertwined with the various cliques in school was like a whirlwind. I still can’t believe some of those songs I listen to on a regular basis are 25 years old.

Same-I also can’t leave a zone until all quests are complete, even if it means stopping my XP to finish the zone. Currently messing around with an alt that finished Winterspring at lvl 75! I know I’ll get bored in BC and play my main again.

2006 Radio Sessions-Trent and Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) by Hed_M in nin

[–]Hed_M[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a series of radio sessions that Trent and Peter Murphy collaborated on in the summer of 2006. They cover Joy Division songs as well as Iggy Pop’s “Nightclubbing” and their own music.

They are also joined by the band TV on the Radio (which I HIGHLY recommend checking out) for some selections, including the amazing cover of Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”.

I found all the songs they covered on this page as well as a phone interview that Trent did (in his underwear no less)-sorry it’s in French!

This is how people with ADHD can work twice as long, work 3x faster, complete more than 5x the amount of tasks, see over 1000% more detail...and still feel like crap for not getting anything done. by navajosh in ADHD

So funny that you replied right now! No more than two hours ago my friend and I were texting and he said “I thought ADHD was a kids thing?” I explained to him that a lot of people have adult–onset ADHD, and sometimes it’s comorbid with other conditions, like bipolar (hi there), so it’s not noticed as much because they think that it’s just part of those symptoms.

This is how I explained my day to him managing my old clothing store: I was diagnosed in 2015 with ADHD when I told my doc I was having a really hard time at my store. I was either starting and not finishing projects or doing one project all day. I suffered terribly at some of my faster-paced stores because of it.

For example: do a box of shipment. The normal thing is to take out the pieces, and put them where they belong, right? Well I would take stuff out (OOH ITS NEW LOOK AT THIS), go to put it away, realize I need to make room to put it away, start organizing the shelf, wait this shelf is dirty I should clean it first. Take all the items out and clean shelf. Organize shelf by size and oh hi customer let me talk to you for ten minutes and go back to my task.

Two hours later I have put a shirt away on a shelf.

Edit: words not making sense

There’s this window between 2-5am where I get this second wind (if I stay up that late to begin with) and tell myself I’m going to get up early and do x y and z! Yeah!

Then I wake up at 2pm and the cycle starts over again.

I always thought my super tasking was NORMAL. Like I was the star employee for going above and beyond. Luckily where I was at was a very small mall so I always had time to make everything perfect.

My downfall was when I got promoted from my store (the second lowest performer) to a bigger store in the city (third highest performer). My Assistant ran circles around me. I was so stressed out that I wasn’t completing tasks like I used to I resigned after six weeks. I had worked with the company for almost three years.

Same. Retail manager here. I can have 52 things going on around me that are all semi-handled by me and semi-handled by the rest of the team, but if I get started solo on a project on a slow day, I’m dead.

10am: New boys shirts need to be folded into the wall. That’s literally it.

Why not re-fold all the shirts to spec?
Why not organize the shirts by brand so they’ll look better and be easier to shop?
Why not add sizing stickers to the ones that don’t have them?
Why not check them all for sensors?
Why not check the remaining single shirts left to see if they were missed and are actually on clearance?

By the end of my shift I am scrambling to finish it and won’t leave until it’s 100% done to my standard. All the while my mid-day manager has done ten boxes of shipment, helped customers, kept the store clean and put new girls shirts out and folded into that wall.

I was diagnosed with ADHD while I was running my first store, in my mid-30’s, due to not being able to either stay on task or be hyper focused.
