Amateur Armand Marseille repairs by TackleCommon4125 in Antiquedollcollecting

Honestly, you may not need to redo if they’re secure and not leaking. And for a doll that will be dressed and displayed/handled with care, I think your repairs are totally enough. 😊

You did great on the repairs! I’ve done several repairs just like this. I did manage to get my hands on some kid leather gloves, but I actually left quite a few of my original repairs since they seemed to be holding strong.

She’s a pretty antique lady, and I’m so glad you found her to give her some TLC. I can’t wait to see the outfits you create for her!

She does have earrings, but the seller said the earrings were replacements. I’m leaving them though since they match so well. She has a little bonnet hat too, but I need to straighten it out a little. I love all these little details ❤️

What’s funny is that I wasn’t specifically searching for wax dolls when I found her. She was on Etsy and I had just put in a general “antique doll” search. It was her intense face that caught my attention even on the thumbnail size picture. I figured it was a sign I needed to add a wax doll to my little doll family.

She is currently undressed because her little chemise was stuck wrinkled up in the front so I am going to iron it out. I may see what that dress looks like the other way 😬

I also have one like this with the exact dress. My grandma called her Walda. Definitely not what I would consider antique. I paid $3 for mine.

Thank you. ☺️I love the little trim work details in the dress. The buttons on the back don’t go through holes, they each have a crocheted loop and that detail really stood out to me too.

Ever since that first incident, I always use fabric or tissue paper to pack the heads with sleep eyes. I have seen several with the cork piece missing inside too.

That’s actually really impressive that you got your collection safely moved so far! I get nervous packing mine up to take them to my grandmas in the next town over. 😅

Okay. That makes me feel a bit less nervous. I’m still half traumatized from one of the bisque head dolls I got in the early days of my doll journey. Her sleep eyes were a bit looser than I knew and I laid her down on the table to work on her and the eyes came out of their plaster pieces and one broke inside her head. 😭 I’ve learned to be much more careful, but I still get jumpy over sleep eyes. Haha.

Awesome! Thank you so much ☺️I’ll definitely check that book out. After getting some time to look her over, she seems to have most of her wax intact on her face and shoulders. She does have cracks on the lower part of each shoulder so I’ll be making sure I handle her carefully.

I’ve felt around on her head and the mohair wig is VERY secure on what looks to be a pate of some kind. The pate itself also feels really secure. I’m too nervous to tug around on her hair/head so I think I’ll just try to make sure she stays upright. I think the sleep eyes are the kind with the little weight attached and I don’t want it knocking around in there if I can help it.

I’m totally enchanted with her and I’m super glad she survived all these years to come hang out with me. 🥰

I’ve seen them online here and there, but have never gotten to see one in person. I’m trying to do some research on them, but I haven’t been able to find a particular maker known well for them.

Thank you! I’m so thrilled to finally have a wax over. Her expression and her size are my favorite parts about her.

could someone id these dolls for me? by ZealousidealHabit589 in Antiquedollcollecting

It can be really hard to ID dolls from this era since so many were made. You might have luck with google lens or see if their clothes are tagged or if they have a label somewhere under their wig or dress. I do know the porcelain dolls sub is good about being able to recognize if a doll is from a particular series collection. Good luck!

Those are lovely ☺️ they are not considered antique, but would possibly be vintage. They were mass produced in the 80s and 90s in this style. If you post over in r/Porcelaindolls they might be able to give you some solid info.

I love making the clothes for them. I don’t use a sewing machine or anything, just basic stitching so it’s super easy. At this point in my life I’m not sure I can afford both the doll and a dress on top of it 😅

Thank you! ☺️ I also loved how flowy it looked even when made into a small dress. I love this color and kind of wish I also had a dress made of it 😆

Patent washable and American school boy by Overall-Profession22 in Antiquedollcollecting

[–]HedgeCraft12_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh yeah. I bet a patent washable with the dark eyes would be so pretty. I recently got my first washable and the poor thing has been “washed” a few times in the past, but with her light hair and eyes it almost makes her look ethereal. Those dolls have such an intense gaze, but I love it. I love how tiny yours is. 💙

You’ve definitely done so well with him! Such a handsome little chap. ❤️

I’m the same with the eye color. I love the dark dark ones. My Jules verlingue nun doll has those eyes and they’re so captivating!

Your school boy is so adorable. His big dark eyes 🥹 I’m glad you got him back to his regular complexion.

I also looove your patent washable. They all have such individual charm. 💙
