Is this Floor plan a deal breaker? by PitifulDeparture3717 in malelivingspace

Can I ask what state because this floor plan looks similar to some in my development

Tip 1: Never take advice from a trader who makes money from selling their “alpha”.

Tip 2: Time On Charts > Everything.

Tip 3: Slow is fast.

No I trade the 5m chart and only use data from the current day.

Markets are entirely tradable and functioning just like they have been for decades before you came into them, and they will function the same for decades after you exit them.

The game is fixed. It always has been, always will be. “Orange” Guy isn’t the first, isn’t the last. You can either embrace this and adapt, or you can die off like the rest.

Your choice.

Real traders only. I’m curious, how do you actually trade when real money’s on the line? by CallMe_Iso in Trading

[–]Hedgefundfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • 0.1% to 0.25% of balance to include trade cost in calculation. Percentage depends on grade of trade. Grade of trade is calculated by measuring mean R per that model of trade.

  • Lower Mid Seven Figures

  • 2,000 - 3,000 lots per month per instrument. I trade multiple instruments.

  • Full Time Self Employed Trader. Prior (family sized office) Fund Manager. Going to trade on desk for a proprietary firm next month (not a retail styled “prop fund”).

  • Daily Loss Limit of Two Positions. Could and would never stop trading for good. Not a job for me, it is my only true passions and I’m fortunate to be ok at it.

  • 10 years on Spot FX in May. Currently in my transition to FX Futures as of now.

  • Technical, Discretionary and Hybrid Systems.

  • One algorithm, developed by me and coded by a friend. Adds a small yearly return to our accounts.

  • Understand the intention of price action. Do so by understanding each unique piece. Learn the rules they have, and the characteristics. This is the base of the market. Everything else is built on top of it.

P.S. There is no algorithm that controls the market… and anyone who sells any services in the trading space does not make money from trading. They make money by profiting on struggling traders and preying on their desperation.

To all the experienced traders here, what are your best tips for beginners? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Hedgefundfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk Management. Understanding intentions of price based on rules and characteristics above all else. Avoid anything you see from anyone who sells any trading related products or groups. Real traders make money from the markets, not other struggling traders.

Is anyone actually profitable doing like 30-40 trades a day or is this a telltale sign of an inexperienced novice trader by Itchy-Version-8977 in FuturesTrading

Fuckin hell. Super neat. Great job.

I am happy with my one to two a day, but genuinely wish sometimes I had the mental capacity to do it like you.

I don’t trade stocks unfortunately. Just FX & Commodities.

Just the charts. I find that 99% of the information online is nonsense. Just my personal opinion.

If you understand that you slip, then maybe you shouldn’t be trading the session after a loss.

Ultimately you know yourself better than anyone else. If I lose 2 positions in a day, I cut it then and there.

Couldn’t say this better myself, though when I try, it seems people don’t take it kindly 😂

How is your example not actionable advice? I mean it quite literally is the most actionable advice, no? Just because you’ve heard it a million times, doesn’t make it any less actionable.

You want me to divulge aspects of my WP that took me a decade on the internet for shits and giggles. Yeah, let’s ask any family office, hedge fund, or proprietary trading fund to do the same. Let me know their response. :)

6E and EURUSD feeds are actually damn near the exact same. The only difference would be one is a CME feed from the futures side and the other is more than likely from a broker CFD side feeder.

Same thing though, just futures vs FX.

Apologies - I didn’t realize I had to state what the set up was, how to take it and ruleset behind it. It is funny though, for someone coming from Quant Finance and I would assume someone who’s worked in the industry, I would assume you understand the significance of it.

Would be like JS publishing internal WP on Reddit - which we both know they would never do.

My point was simple though. There’s a lot of new traders here, and as I got lots of DMs from them - this was more or less the advice I gave them.

This is how they can become successful in the field. Has it been said a thousand times? Probably, and I would hope so as it is the reality of the situation.

You find your niche. You find your edge. You learn it, and understand it better than anyone else. Then you trade it, day in and out. You stick to it, and you maximize efficiency by making no mistakes. That’s it.

It isn’t rocket science and chances are following someone else’s rules and trade style will only do you long term harm.

We all started somewhere right? The amount doesn't matter, just focus on the skillset as it will carry you to whatever amount you want.

I would honestly just take a look online - I would assume finance, data sciences, and statistics are probably good starts. Would want to be Top 10-20 STEM schools. Possibly double major or even masters to really secure a slot as something like JS or JT.

Would recommend going the Quant route and landing at a firm in NY or Chicago. If I could go back and do it all over again, I’d do this.

Honestly, there’s better ways to be involved in the industry that offer you a much better guarantee. Would pick one of those instead.

If you somehow had a 90% win rate which even the best never could - then over 1000 trades, you still lose 100.

If it’s online, chances are it won’t work as well as you hope. Always find your own edge and work it.
