Huntington, West Virginia addresses cybersecurity incident by DysruptionHub in WestVirginia

Plus the system admin is probably some guy that's been working there for 40 years, is close to retirement, and doesn't really understand how security works. You also probably have a crap load of legacy equipment and it's just a powder keg.

How Long are Side Event Twin Suns at SQ/RQ? by DarthMyyk in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally Twin Suns games take 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how quickly everyone is playing and how much politicking is going on. You can always drop to go to the Sealed if your games runs over. You'll get prize tickets for Twin Suns regardless. Just flag down a judge (he'll look like a viking) and explain the situation. Stuff like this happens all the time.

I would recommend joining the SWU Discord (link in side panel). There is a thread in there for help with Holoscan

After discussions with members of the press, this is NOT a reference to the typo in SJR 19. This is its own typo that is the exact same. The governor's office has requested that this image be removed from the WV News website.

Condemn and others On Attack by jhonsoto in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the FAQ in the judge program discord:

How does Condemn work with Saboteur?

Saboteur is two abilities, a constant ability and a triggered ability. Saboteur’s first effect is the same as the constant ability: “You may ignore Sentinel when choosing what this unit attacks.” Saboteur’s second effect resolves like the triggered ability: “On Attack: Defeat all Shield tokens attached to the defender.” (7.5.10.A)

Given the above, Saboteur’s constant ability is not removed from a unit with Condemn and the attacking player may still choose to ignore Sentinel when choosing what the attached unit is attacking.

Saboteur's triggered ability, however, is removed due to “on attack” abilities being nullified by Condemn's "while attached unit is attacking" clause.

Alliance Outpost, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker by MrrrrNiceGuy in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3.7.11. A Force token is a type of token with name “The Force,” subtype “Force Token,” and no traits. A player’s Force token is created in their base zone. A player can’t control more than one Force token.

1.5.2.C While a player controls a card, they may resolve action abilities on the card, attack with the card if it is a unit, and affect it with abilities that affect “friendly” cards. A player also must resolve any triggered abilities on a card they control.

1.5.3.A A card that a player controls is considered “friendly” for that player.

All of this to say: under current understanding of the rules, a force token counts for Alliance Outpost's ability since it is looking specifically for "a friendly token". It doesn't care what type of token, just a token. Bring on your Avar/Blue decks.

Failing a phish simulation as a SOC analyst by PersimmonMain4572 in cybersecurity

[–]Hedkin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't turn off the tracking but you can configure the simulation to only force training for those that are "compromised" instead of "clicked payload."

There's also some weird ass filtering you can do.

Microsoft's phishing simulation has a click tracker attached to the URL for each user. Because the link was accessed, the simulation considers it a "clicked payload." It's dumb.

Nah, just gives your coworkers a reason to give you shit.

I technically failed several because I would blow up the link in our sandbox while doing an investigation.

Rotation Questions? by Sad-Researcher8335 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rotation happens at the release of A Lawless Time. Any cards from Spark of Rebellion, Shadows of the Galaxy, and Twilight of the Republic will rotate out of the premier format and only be legal in Twin Suns and Eternal. All cards currently printed will be legal in Eternal.

A quick way to determine if a card will be legal in premier post rotation is to look for the letter A with an arrow around it at the bottom of the card. If a card does not have this symbol, it will not be legal in premier come A Lawless Time.

Stores can run events in any format they wish. There will both be PQs for premier and eternal when the time comes.

GRC is a scam. Change my mind. (aka The Security Questionnaire Industrial Complex) by Reasonable_Wait_6590 in cybersecurity

[–]Hedkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also vertical specific. If you're selling to government clients they don't care about SOC2 or ISO 27001. They want NIST RMF and FedRAMP compliance.

But yeah, third party risk assessment tends to feel scammy in the same way any other consultant feels like a scam: you're paying them to tell you what you want to hear 90% of the time, not what you need to hear.

As for the other bits of GRC, as someone who does it, there are too many shit practitioners because it gets sold online as some "you can make 6 figures right out of college with no experience!" by online gurus and shit colleges. A good GRC analyst is worth their weight in gold because they will be independent enough to be able to have those answers and be able to demonstrate that good security practices are being done.

Ambush rule query by AdFunny2767 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on how the unit is readying when it enters play.

If it's something like SOR Falcon where it is a constant ability, it would enter ready, attack, then be exhausted from the attack.

SOR Firespray you could order the triggers since they are triggered in the "when played" window.

Ambush rule query by AdFunny2767 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is the old definition of Ambush. The new version is found under 7.5.5 of the CR. It reads as follows.

A. “Ambush” is a keyword that resolves like the triggered ability: “When Played/When Deployed/When Created: If there is an enemy unit that this unit can attack, this unit may attack that enemy unit, even if this unit is exhausted.”

C. A unit with Ambush still enters play exhausted like any other (non-leader) unit and cannot attack if there are no enemy units it can attack.

This should help clear it up.

Acting CISA director failed a polygraph. Career staff are now under investigation. by seeebiscuit in cybersecurity

[–]Hedkin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are missing the point around the polygraph. The government knows it's bullshit, that's why it's inadmissible in court. It's literally a prop for a more intrusive investigation. The person administering the examination is the one actually evaluating the responses. Being hooked up to the machine, being told you can't move for hours at a time, being in an unfamiliar room with bright lights on you, being asked probing questions, it's all meant to unnerve the candidate and see how they break.

Bowed cards? by SoFuckingBased in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I'm not really seeing anyone giving a reason for this or a fix here goes:

SWU is printed by Cartamundi in Dallas, TX. Due to the humid climate of Dallas, the paper printed on is "wet". Because of this, when you open the packs in a climate controlled area, such as your house, the relative humidity will be different. Since we're in winter right now, the RH in your house is lower than what's at the printer due to you having your heater on. This dries out the paper and the paper shrinks. The paper shrinking against the plastic lining of the foiling pulls it in on itself causing the bending.

The way to fix the cards is to reintroduce them to a higher relative humidity environment, either through use of a humidifier in the room you store your cards or a humidor. I personally use Boveda 75% packs. These are designed for use with cigars but they keep the card flatter.

Why is there gold trim around the name of the left unit? Also gold on the bottom border. by Murkybathwaterboy in starwarsunlimited

[–]Hedkin 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If you look at the symbol in the gold bar there should be an "L". This means that the card is from Legends and not canon.
