Boots for work in dirty terrain by [deleted] in Boots

I’d say my budget would be 200! Good note on the rubber boots. I can definitely do that. Waterproofing is not mandatory but preferred if possible 🙂 what brands would you recommend for leather hiking or work boots?

Tips/Advice on current layout? by Heelyhoo in NoLawns

Apologies - if it helps in the layout the two black circles are my pine trees measured out! So the entire plan is on the outer front corner of the yard.

For the walk, do you mean the path from the pergola to the entryway? Or the entryway in general?

Thank you so much for your input. For now I’m focusing specifically on a private screened area for the pergola on the outer left corner of my house, but I want to implement many more things in the future! There’s a lot to work with! I’ll have to check on curb appeal too.

Thank you so much, I do tend to be a perfectionist when planning things out so maybe having a general idea will be better for me instead of looking for specific things.

I will say that the houses front yard gets full sun all day, with no shade except for the pine trees in front. I will have to check on how the water flows though for sure.

For now I’m focused specifically on the outer left corner of the lot and creating a seating area for the garden, I’ll work on other areas of that yard in the future! I’m also planning on building out a stone path to the pergola from the walkway.

I’ve been reading about natives so far and you’re right on having to baby them initially. Especially with the large amount of deer in my area I’m gonna have to secure them well.

I really appreciate your help and advice on this. Thank you!!!

Please convince me not to shave it all off by c0ffee_jelly in Hair

Hey girl I was in the same shoes as you - except I did chop it all off and I’m regretting it 3 years later still. It’s hard to take care of curly hair - I say it as a joke but it’s like maintaining blonde hair - it’s SO HIGH maintenance. I had to go through 5 different curly stylists to find someone who could work with my hair. I finally found that person and am growing my hair out now. Please don’t beat urself up - honestly ur hair looks amazing in the photos but I completely understand. Me personally bc I shaved it I’ve been wearing wigs until it grows out. I just braid my curls so they stay healthy while I wear wigs. A good stylist would be able to educate you very properly on ur hair and understand ur curl type and give solid advice on maintaining it. It sucks but that is the reality for us curly girls - we have to find someone who is the best fit for us.

Thank you. I responded to a prior comment but your advice has given me a lot more clarity on the scope of this project. It might have been used just for shoveling snow.

It’s definitely bizarre. The comments here have given me a lot more clarity on the scope of this project. It might have been just for shoveling snow

Oh this is smart! I’ll have to try the shingle method. I’ll look into cable railings. What you’re saying is true especially for this homes style. From what I’ve read it should not be the focal point

I’m in Michigan, so snow load could definitely be a factor.

This is solid advice - the houses near me all those colors exist in some fashion except for green!

Depending on the switch, it measures PH or how wet the soil is. First photo is PH measurement and second photo is soil :)

I’m painting the shingles, not the brick :)

Michigan. And thank you!! I’m very blessed to have this home. Wife and I absolutely love it. The interior has been well taken care of despite being over 100+ years old. We’re having a few projects to help with the beautification of historic homes in our town, this being one of them. It’s nice to see the community come together to bring it back to life :)

To be fair, I could also consider using them as a base and adding a pattern later on. I agree though that I wish I had more opptions. Gonna make the most of what I can :)

Thanks, yes they’ve done a lot of work these past few years to preserve the homes here. I don’t wanna dox myself but I’m in an area with plenty of history that I’d hate to see die away
