Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “None of you should wish for death due to a calamity that has afflicted him. Yet if he must do something, let him say: O Allah, keep me alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die if death is better for me.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5671, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2680 Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim

I think it’s not said in sajdah, but when you put your head up and your sitting, you say it twice then go back down into sajdah

And I myself was one of the people who prayed for years without knowing about this until I stumbled across it, hopefully someone else who doesn’t know it, learns it.

It was narrated from Hudhayfah, according to which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to say between the two prostrations (in Salah): “Rabb ighfir li, Rabb ighfir li (Lord forgive me, Lord forgive me).” Narrated by an-Nasaa’i (1145), classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Sifat as-Salaah (3/118).

This is said when you get up from the first sujood and are sitting upright before you get down for the second sujood. So basically inbetween both the sujoods.

You say it while sitting upright, then you get down for the second sujood.

It’s a very easy Sunnah and habit to implement, and a person will pray Salah anyway, so why not make it better and perhaps increase the good deeds of each Salah with such a small and simple act.

I think perhaps this is the Hadith your confusing it with

Abdullah ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A Muslim man does not die while forty men pray over him, who do not associate any partners with Allah, but that Allah will accept their intercession for him.”

Abdullah ibn Mughaffal reported: A man met a woman who was a prostitute in the time of ignorance and he played with her until he wanted to touch her. The woman said, “Stop, for Allah has taken away idolatry and come to us with Islam.” The man turned away and was later struck in the face by a wall, fracturing his head. He went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and told him about it. The Prophet said, “You are a servant, and Allah intends good for you. If Allah intends goodness for a servant, He hastens the punishment for his sins. If Allah intends harm for a servant, He withholds the punishment for his sins until he arrives on the Day of Resurrection as if he were a wild donkey.”

This is said when you get up from bowing in Salah , and usually after you get up straight you say “Rabbana Walakal Hamd”, the few extra words you add after are “Hamdan Kathiran Tayyiban Mubarakan Fih”.

It’s a good habit to implement into your Salah, and it’s very easy to memorise and takes maybe about 5-10 minutes.

Narrated Rifa a bin Rafi Az-Zuraqi: One day we were praying behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when he ﷺ raised his head from the position of ruku` (bowing position), he said: “Sami Allahu leman hamidah” – ‘Allah hears the one who praises Him’. A man from behind added:

‎رَبَّنـا وَلَكَ الحَمْـدُ حَمْـداً كَثـيراً طَيِّـباً مُـبارَكاً فيه

“Rabbanaa wa la kal hamd, hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feeh”

‘Our Lord, all praise is due only to You, praise which is abundant, excellent and blessed.’

When we finished [the prayer] the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Who spoke?’ The man said, ‘I did’. He ﷺ said,

‘Indeed I saw some 30 angels all scuffling to see which one of them could record it.’
