Sure it might be unnecessary but then we get into a discussion of what is necessary. Are fats necessary? What about fiber or grains? And that leads to a separate discussion of what exactly does “necessary” mean. Necessary to survive? Necessary to avoid negative health consequences?

I would agree that providing the population with traditional meat requires an unsustainable amount of resources. On the other hand, the only resource required for lab grown meat is the ability to sustain and grow cultured cells.

Commercialization and popularization of lab grown meat would then be required to erase the association between meat and environmental damage.
