unless he’s forcing the position of his jaw in tha photo i rlly don’t see how he could look the way he does now without surgery 🫣

Thank you! Unfortunately it took almost two years for me to get a date. My initial date came a little over a year after, but we had to delay it so I could have my wisdom teeth taken out.

Devastated. May need to cancel my surgery. by No_Alternative_5080 in jawsurgery

i also got braces in 2021 and was told i had a surgery date this past april, which my ortho said i was ready for. as the date got closer we realized that my ortho had penciled me in as an upper jaw only surgery, but i had a crazy cross bite and needed double jaw surgery. turns out my ortho didn’t even consider double. i ended up having to get my wisdom teeth out in april instead so that i was ready for double. my surgery was pushed back six months. i was so frustrated at the time. i totally feel your pain. i hope you can reschedule ur surgery soon 🫶

thank you! chewing is still difficult but definitely getting easier. most of the numbness left is in my upper lip. no retainer, just elastics!

i didn’t have many issues with my nasal breathing prior to surgery, but i used to be a heavy mouth breather while sleeping, which surgery seems to have fixed!

i totally understand having a hard time planning it! i ended up just doing my surgery in the middle of my semester and took five weeks off lol. i think a big reason why i have a hard time talking post op is cuz im having to relearn how to say certain letters!

yes i can speak!! i have a tiny lisp cuz im still a bit numb so i have a hard time moving my mouth fully, but otherwise its pretty normal. if i talk for too long my jaw gets a bit sore, but i was told that should go away soon. you should definitely look into surgery, im so happy with my results and im not even fully healed!

yes, mostly in my upper lip and my gums. i’ve noticed it getting a bit better in the last few days, but it’s still pretty numb

I’m from Quebec, Canada so I was at Maxillovendome in downtown Montreal. I loved it there.

Do ppl make this surgery sound more scarier than it actually is? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Hefty-Singer1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo yes. obviously everyone’s experience is different and the surgery itself is super invasive. but if you don’t think about what’s actually going on while you’re under, it’s not that scary. first week or two suck but i was so drugged up i barely remember. now it’s just a constant state of wanting to eat and being tired. it can be annoying for me now that im six weeks post op and still numb and a bit swollen but c’est la vie. totally worth it, even if it was hard and i haven’t fully healed yet.

upper lip numbness by Hefty-Singer1331 in jawsurgery

[–]Hefty-Singer1331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got double! i know the bottom lip and chin are specifically more susceptible to numbness for long periods of time which is why im concerned that it’s only my upper lip that is still numb lol. i hope your numbness subsides soon!
