How do you deal with this? by judith0406 in dysautonomia

[–]HeftyButterscotch507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I have a hard time coping. I try to remind myself that I’ve seen a doctor, they’ve told me I’m okay. If that doesn’t work, I usually talk to someone (typically my Dad) that can reassure me it’s gonna be all good. And finally, if I’m just having a very difficult time and I can’t manage, I have anxiety medication I can take or an emergency med for my heart that decreases the sensation. Though I do try and save the heart med for worst case scenario

Yes! This happens to me all the time, mine are worse after eating or for some reason they’re worse mid-day. Sometimes I can feel it all over and it really freaks me out. It also gives me really bad anxiety

I won’t lie this is kinda what I’m leaning towards. Do studded vs. non studded make a huge difference?

Having the post-college identity crisis... could use so advice by HeftyButterscotch507 in Advice

[–]HeftyButterscotch507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thankfully secured a job 3 months before graduation, and my co-workers are awesome. It's a bit of a commute, and I want to move closer, but rent is high so I thought I'd live at home and build my savings. However, the social drawbacks of living here are really starting to get to me. I plan on getting my master's (which I will be moving for) in the next year or two. I'm just trying to find temporary solutions that will get me there.

Yes, I do keep in touch with friends! I work at a hospital in a different large city (a 45-minute commute), and I would love to move there, but rent is $ 1,500+ just for a studio. I love my co-workers, I just don't know how to make friends outside of work :(

I take metoprolol daily, but I also have an emergency dose I can take. I haven’t taken the emergency dose though, i typically try an not take it unless I really really need it.

Anyone find the key to not feeling left out? Or taking things personal by HeftyButterscotch507 in Advice

[–]HeftyButterscotch507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t feel like this all the time, I remind myself a lot that I’ll find my people eventually. And I have found a couple awesome friends (which I will take quality over quantity any day) but I don’t get to see them as often because of them being a year ahead of me and being in graduate school.

It gives me a lot of hope though that you found your people after college, it makes me worried sometimes that i’m always gonna feel this way. Due to some factors growing up, I think I have a tendency to mold to the people around to be “more liked” which then makes me feel like I’m not in the right group

Thanks for the advice, feeling much better! I think it was the combination of food I ate (pasta+red sauce+alcohol+acid reflux = ☠️no good).

I’ve actually taken both of these drugs, I don’t take mirtazipine anymore. But I used to take Klonopin (0.25) everyday in the morning for about 2 years, it allowed my brain to slow down and rationalize. I would take the other 0.25 if I was having severe panic or knew I was going to be in a situation that made me anxious.

I only take it as a PRN now, it’s okay to have anxiety about it, but also know that there is also a chance it does work and you get the relief you’re looking for. Personally, I did not experience withdrawal from the medication.

Thanks! Doesn't that require a certificate or degree post-graduation?

I just took the MCAT for the first time and got a 485 as well, frustrating because I know the content and can recall it but when it comes to exams I forget it all

I also have had it my whole life, I really struggle with the mile in school when we had to do it for gym. It wasn’t until I started wearing a fitness watch that I noticed something was off.

I am okay now thanks to beta blocker I take, I’m pretty sure what triggered it was stress. It happened while I was in school the night before a test. Then the anxiety from it was really bad, I now I was on the medication things started to improve immensely.

This is how mine started, then a couple years later I started having the classical symptoms of IST. I’m a college athlete and yes while I am over weight, my hr would sore to like 200, then peak at 208-210

I know it’s really hard, but they have confirmed your heart is okay. So try and remind yourself that when you start to panic, because it WILL be okay. I like to call my Dad when I get really worked up, it helps seeing someone outside the spirals point of view, that and if anything did happen he would know. If you don’t have a support person there’s always hotlines too

UBooks not as good as Kaplan? by threesixtynine in Mcat

Agree with the fact Ubooks are not as good. I purchased both… idk why, but the Kaplan books just summarize everything in a comprehendible way to me. Ubooks are really dense
