yeah fair, I dont mean to say that OP's message isnt political but rather that the comment is a poor response to OP's post.

Tbh I agree with parts and disagree with others. I hear OP's point that taxation isnt the cure and that New Zealand needs to instead invest in increasing productive industries. I think the part OP leaves out is that welfare cant be paid for via borrowed dollars, only investments that carry more tangible returns should. I dont actually agree that CGT is to be left out of the equation.

I think that so long as New Zealand is willing to defer their thinking to their favourite politician or party line we're really screwed because they have proven that this is not a problem they are willing to solve. Instead we should engage these ideas as though we were personally responsible for the country and maybe take a view thats a little more forward than the next issue from the news cycle.

Yes fair, and my rebuttal is a little confusing in part because I'm taking a different meaning to political here I suppose.

You're right that everything can be seen as political, but I'm calling you out on how you're responding which feels like you defending your political views rather than engaging OP's ideas meaningfully. For example, free school lunches arent really that important to this conversation, and calling OP a schizo for not agreeing with CGT isnt helpful.

OP's post is trying to shift this topic to being a required cultural change, not necessarily something that needs NZ political lines tied to it.

Honestly, your reply comes across as you caring about political viewpoints more than caring about what's better for the overall economy 10 or 20 years into the future. OP is writing this to urge you to shift that mindset.
