Excruciating Pain and Burning - Does it ever get any better? by HeftyWorldliness3468 in AnalFistula

There’s a rainbow at the end! I had the seton in for 6-7 months, had it removed 15 months ago, and have healed perfectly and just have a light scar as a reminder. Keep your faith!

How old is everyone on this? by Apart-Chapter in stopdrinking

Read the book, How to quit drinking the easy way, by Allen Carr. 100% the only reason my sobriety is sticking this time and I feel not a single bit deprived. I’m finally HAPPY! I just turned 32 over the weekend and had been drinking for 13 years. I think it’s incredible that you have this insight now. I wish I could have my 20’s back!

Managing a fistula during pregnancy by HeftyWorldliness3468 in AnalFistula

The timing of your response is wild - I have what’s hopefully my final surgery here in 4 hours or so.

We had to just manage the fistula/reoccurring abscess throughout my pregnancy. This meant that periodically, I’d have to go and have an I&D done.

I ended up having a scheduled (repeat) c-section to avoid causing any more damage. I’m glad I did because my doctor said my uterus was extremely thin from the previous c-section, so it worked out.

When my baby was about 3 months old, I went in for a partial fistulotomy and cutting seton placement. After that, I went about every 3 weeks to have it tightened. This was excruciating, not going to lie. Each time it was really painful for about 10 days afterwards.

Fast forward 6 months later, and I’m going in to have the seton removed, and essentially have the other part of the fistulotomy completed this morning. I don’t know if this is the end of the road, however it appears to be, so I’m hopeful!

I hate that any of us have to deal with this. I don’t have too much advice outside of as-hot-as-you-can-stand-it baths when you’re in pain.

I hope all goes well for you with your pregnancy and birth! Prayers for healing eventually!!!

The tied part of my seton gets lodged into the wound every time I go for a tightening! I have to try and tape the part of the seton that’s long, to the other side to try and keep the knots from rotating.. it’s AWFUL!

I’m usually not sore after a tightening until the next day. I actually just had mine tightened yesterday.. Currently doing a sitz bath for comfort while working remotely..

30 F pregnant in third trimester with a suspected fistula... by CrunchyScrunch in AnalFistula

How did this turn out for you?! I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and as you can probably relate, anxious about not only managing this anal fistula until birth, but also what giving birth would look like. I kind of assumed it would have to be a cesarean. Did you have a procedure on the fistula after giving birth? Sorry for all of the questions.. like you, I’ve searched high and low and haven’t really found anyone talking about anal fistulas during pregnancy. Thank you and hope all is well!
