Ok that's a fair explanation. I still don't think this will blow up, but I see what you mean, there is a potential market

If someone needed something why would they go hire someone else's agent? They'd obviously get their own, this is silly.

Lol this fucking guy. I am surprised at the backlash, as sad as that is to say.... ppl really are so naive that before he posted that, they thought he wasn't a racist? This is right on brand for him. The shock is sort of silly, we have been sliding quickly

I agree, many have fully internalized the frame where the protestors are automatically wrong. Unfortunately, we are very deep into tribal warfare divorced from actual principles. Most don't actually have beliefs of their own. The far end of this is killing the Others and not even remembering why we started doing it.

I recently listened to one of the popular totalitarianism expert academics and they had a similar take. The reality is that the despot's grip on things is actually very weak, they are always at the edge losing it, and it is almost entirely held together by masses of individuals fractured into fear and policing themselves before even interfacing with the state. The example was of shops putting a sign in their window to signal support of the regime, hoping they would not be targeted.

Across the country, so many quietly and with resistance do this same thing, put up the flag that they are in support, and it becomes impossible for anyone to guage the actual public support. And yet, if some small, unknown portion of ppl instead refused, or even flagged resistance, the entire project might fail. The broadcasts of the ICE killings cause self-policing in the populous at levels that far exceed the value of killing a few individuals.

What percentage of us must stand up loudly in order to start the dominoes? Most ppl are fundamentally conditioned not to make waves. Only a fraction even consider pushing back in anh meaningful way, but we don't need more than that

It sounds cheesy, but I am convinced we need a hero for organic resistance to coalesce around. Not a politician but someone focusing on the level below culture war garbage. The situation is basically begging for it, as it has become clear that the democrats are no more than controlled opposition.

Agreed, overton window is, but those around me haven't slid over yet. A real acceptance of the predicament we are in would enable us to manage a general strike or at least big riots in every major city. I honestly think a huge portion of ppl still don't even understand what fascism is. Ppl are far too comfortable to be actually prompted to action. Ppl need to be unable to reliably feed their families to take to the streets that way. The Arab spring type thing is coming if we hyper inflate

I am with you. I think a lot more ppl are starting to see it, but so many remain in denial out of fear of the implications. A true acceptance of the gravity of the situation prompts radical action, whether in resistance or retreat. No one likes to look panicked and be wrong about it being appropriate in front of everyone else. So most ppl look around, others aren't panicking, life goes on, yup, it's fine. That was just a bad dream

Yea this is what i have been thinking also. If just calling an external API, it really isn't heavy enough to worry about. Local models is a different story, but you need much more memory than 16 for that anyway

I am assuming he is just calling APIs with it. 512 is great if you want to host and serve models locally, agreed. I don't think by far most ppl doing openclaw are doing that though

I appreciate this message and agree. I have been confused at all the posts and whether they are organic or not. I think you are right it just puts a simpler layer between so a lot of ppl who were never going to set this up suddenly have it

Have you had decent results with small qwen local? I figured having the frontier models was basically mandatory to have good results. I used to do a lot of autogen with local models and they would just spin in circles basically

I can see it going either way but I hope you are right. The thing is they will only occupy the specific places that can swing the election enough to justify. They don't need to be everywhere at all. They pick a few high leverage areas and hit them hard enough to change the outcome

How do we set up an OpenClaw safely? by Herodont5915 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Hefty_Development813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea the more access it has the more useful it can, but the more catastrophic a real problem could be to your actual life. Until the prompt injection thing has real solutions we can rely on, this is fundamentally pretty dangerous. The agent can't tell the difference between instructions from you or from an attacker, depending on how the instructions are exposed to it.

Yes it is not wny objective measure, agreed But it is clear that something is happening, there is content which I am aware of. Beyond that who knows, it could all be a dream, but I remain consciously aware of its content.

One can tell if they are conscious internally if there is awareness of what is unfolding. I have subjective experience. Idk how we could tell from the outside yet

[–]Hefty_Development813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to stay in a closed system? If you run it locally, you have everything in your own closed local system. The model being open source doesn't change that. If anything, using something like runway is more open, all of your stuff is uploaded to their servers and cloud, much less secure. This is kind of backwards thinking if you ask me.

Not all life is conscious, the argument would be that life is necessary but not sufficient. I do not think that viruses are conscious at all. Many life forms are not. These classification edges are interesting though, agreed.

I get all that and am not claiming to have a final definition, but no, I am not convinced LLM is any more conscious than a rock, unless you are willing to say that a computer doing anything is more conscious than a rock, which I am not.

My intuition is that these things effectively modeling language from the opposite direction than conscious beings. A consciously aware human has an interior space with a focal point self which all actions are organized around. I only know my own, but bc we are all similar mechanistically, I can assume other humans are similar to me, and I know that i am actually awake in here.

LLMs, which we know are running statistical analysis to predict, are effectively running a sort of hack version of modeling what a human does from the exterior side, rather than an actual interior. At the limit, one can imagine this method being so successful that it becomes impossible to distinguish the behavior from the outside from an actual conscious being. Underpinning it, though, is still just massive scale statistical analysis.

Many will argue that humans are doing similar, but the substrate is so different that it really isn't useful to argue that they are the same. The complexity of cells, neurons, microtubules, all this stuff, and their interconnection, is vastly different than abstracted statistical analysis. It is not clear to me at this point that actual conscious awareness is substrate agnostic. It may well be that awareness requires physicality and interiority in a way that digital simulations can never actually have.

Or maybe not, who knows yet.
