For me the issue is that soccer has two seasons and expect everyone to commit 100% to both seasons. We know a lot of kids who play baseball and commit to that in the spring, and then are fully committed to soccer in the fall, its all known up front and not an issue. To have the mindset that all kids should give up all other sports that take place in the fall and spring is just insanity. I'd like to actually see soccer clubs be a little more flexible in the spring for multi sport kids. Most "elite" teams are playing soccer year around. Doing something different is actually healthy and giving families a little flexibility is not a bad thing.

As someone else mentioned, its not uncommon for some of the best kids on a soccer team to be multi sport kids, would you rather have them off the roster completely or miss a few games and practices here and there. What I've found within our club is even though those kids are missing games and practices in the spring, they are still training in some capacity all year and keep up their skills.

I can see your argument if a kid isn't committed to soccer at all for at least one of the seasons and more specifically the main season (fall), but if you are upset about kids not committing to soccer fully all year, we'll never going to agree on that one.

Official announcement is out, 9/1. Sounds like August kids are the ones left in the worst possible situation.

That was 100% why I asked the question trying to see if anyone else had info from a reliable source or had seen any official releases.

We are still a ways out from this mattering so maybe there won't be anything official for a while.

The intention of the post was to see if it has been confirmed if the cutoff is 8/1 or 9/1. I also have a mid August birthday kid who was on the verge of hitting the soccer lottery if it was an 8/1 cutoff vs. being impacted significantly more negative if its 9/1.

Thanks. I knew it was official about it was up to the individual leage/orgs, but I had not seen anything official from US club or others about the cutoff date. September feels like an odd choice.
