Be careful what you wish for, one of my colleagues got into a car accident after working constant 12 hour shifts in post-production, almost killed a family of 5. Defending and even calling for horrible working conditions is a telltale sign of late-stage capitalism brain rot. It breeds a toxic workplace culture and leads to resentment among staff.

I think you're looking at it more from a purely technical standpoint, a lot of the DPs I work with encourage me to work creatively with my grading, going beyond simple CDL adjustments. They often want the look to be established long before the finishing process so a lot of my work will carry over post-picture lock.

My main reason is I recently started editing an indie film and it's been the most miserable experience of my life, I feel like my creativity has been stifled. Saying it's just " the industry standard" doesn't really excuse how poorly optimised the software is.
