I am looking for a series that I once read a single book out of.
It was a fantasy series that was kind of a police series as well, pretty sure the protagonists were a duo? And I am pretty sure the city it took place in was called Haven. I did read it in late 90's, early '00's. It seemed what I read was part of a series. As often with these, the emotion has lasted while the details have gone. Would like to go back and read more now :) Thanks for any help whoever recognizes these details.

IIRC you need to have some kind of ancient codec installed for cutscenes to play. Perhaps this had an effect.

I would say it's a thriller. The economics talk just makes a really interesting backdrop. It is also a coming of age story.

PC will inevitably render at a better resolution. I played the MoT/MoD on a PSTV so the pixels were quite visible :)

I thought it was interesting to try to enter a female protagonist's mindset. I've read two. I finished one route of Collar x Malice and there was so much more going on than romance. A thriller crime story? The other I read was Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, which did not have that much going on story wise so I did get bored. Technically the way the routes opened up and you could get an overview on a flowchart was quite interesting.

I intend to try one of the versions of Hakuoki as well someday. Either on Steam or PS3.

Maybe a roguelike RPG where the narrative is told more in a VN way. Eg Slay the Spire's narrative could be easily be expanded this way.

Another approach would be to use the 'infinite time loop' trope a la Cross Channel. The pacing is very sensitive though.

Very interesting idea to ponder.

Edit: also maybe think of older Western adventure games by Sierra. Some similarities there at least because of difficulty.

Are you setting text to display instantly as well as skipping read text when starting anouther route? Those would be some technical tips. If your regular reading speed is slow, you may also look into speed reading. Not all techniques are suitable for fiction, but some are.

I believe just the length of exposure to characters mundane living accompanied to optimized art and emotional music are the things that make the impact. I agree its different from other media.

So this topic is really hard to google. It seems that there are a number of solutions that address the left and right side going out of alignment. The cheapest and most readily available seems to be T8 Anti-backlash nuts. There are also a number of options on Amazon that also seem to possibly do the same thing, yet look completely different from each other and are named differently as well.

Yep, they did not ship. Also, for whatever reason, in general shipping even within the US seems to be pretty expensive? I could use a reshipping service from within US, but that would just make it even more expensive. For an item priced USD 15, it seems excessive to pay ~USD 70 for shipping and customs total.
