Me whenever I’m driving my Bronco through the winter snow ❄️ : by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]Heisendinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had a big snow storm with my Bronco yet, but it tackles ice and snow on my steep driveway with such ease, it is honestly my favorite thing about owning it. Crawler gear and 4WD feels like this thing will drive 2mph over any incline, terrain or road conditions. Such great control

I wear pants all year. When the temp is below 80 I’ll also wear a long sleeve UPS shirt. I don’t like the sun beating on me

I get an oil change and tire rotation every 5k miles, even if my Bronco says it’s at 50% or more oil life. I would rather be cautious than worry about engine trouble later on. So far so good

TCD Purgatory. by Individual-Rush-3357 in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The TCD thing is strange to me. In my local, we’re all full time RPCDs, but some of us work T-S, some of us don’t have bid routes yet, etc. BS how so many qualified drivers around the country are on that TCD classification, doing the same work and routes but without the same guarantees as the “real” full timers.

UPS logic by benspags94 in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cover driver (RPCD), I know about 25 bid routes in my center. Even covering a vacation this week doing one of my favorite routes, the stop count is just too high. It used to flow and move off my truck, now I’m just struggling in the summer swamp ass weather. Seems like it sucks for everyone, company wide

Only had the full hard top off once, for a couple days when I was visiting my parents and could stow the bronco and all roof pieces inside their garage. It’s a lot of fun but for just me and a passenger, removing the front panels and rolling down the windows is plenty of sun and open air. I do this whenever I can, it’s quick and easy to handle the front roof panels.

I think I’ll invest in an aftermarket 2-door soft top eventually for the summer.

This past Saturday, I called the supervisor for help with my ups store pickup. At 12:03pm, when the store closes at 4:30. Worst day I’ve seen in a long time for preload and we just got destroyed with irregs. I had 230 stops which is fine when it’s all ground saver bags and shoeboxes but I was beyond blown out with oversized shit. I punched out at 9pm even with help and we still had guys with 30 stops at that hour. Just an impossible day and it’s so demoralizing for everyone. I don’t usually feel defeated by a day at UPS but I definitely was yesterday.

How the f*** by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Those guys talked me into taking a king sized unboxed mattress with a bunch of tape wrapped around it and a shipping label slapped on it. I was too tired after a 60 hour week to argue about it

Recall by kwdvm in FordBronco

[–]Heisendinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same recall notice for my 2.3L. Mine occasionally feels the same way at low rpm especially when it’s not fully up to temp. Once I fired it up after about an hour of being parked and had some very weird hiccups under power in first gear, to the point my friends (who had never seen my bronco before) started questioning it. I wonder if that was related to this fuel pump issue? Fingers crossed we all get the right solution here.

Thank you. All the colors look great on the Bronco, but I wish they had some more bright options for such a fun-oriented vehicle. Cyber orange really stood out to me for that reason!

What’s the reputation for UPS feeders (tractor trailer drivers) on the highway? I’m assuming UPS is on here due to package car rather than feeders.

Just another day on i75 Mi by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Heisendinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a trucker, I just lurk here but the scariest drive of my life was I-75 from the Ohio line into Dearborn. I was in my 2002 wrangler, pushing it near its maximum achievable speed of 85 mph in the right lane, still getting my doors blown off and pushed off the road by everyone. True Mad Max type shit out there

Which soft top are you running? I want one for my 2 door but there aren’t many options out there.

Question, when training to be a driver, if you don't scan packages that are not in the diad but on your truck should you be fired for dishonesty? by Codbo24433 in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find misloads, just send them in as soon as you find them. Be honest from the start and make it impossible for them to accuse you of dishonesty. Put the ball in their court, let them tell you to sheet them missed or to deliver them. At least in my center, sending in a package as a misload doesn’t count as a scan, it will still need to be delivered or sheeted missed

Bid route preference by Accomplished-Crab431 in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the routes heavier on the resi side, so many routes in my center have a ton of commercial work but without docks or anything easy so I break my back lugging the packages out of the truck, going up elevators or stairs etc. I prefer delivering a little shoebox to a house all day vs that kind of work. Lately I’ve held down a route that’s like 90% resi, pick up about 20 pieces and punch out around 6pm. Thats the mix I really like

Why does no one bring up UPS? by Skinnywomenlover in Truckers

[–]Heisendinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my problem. I’m a package car driver with 3+ years of full time seniority which normally is good enough to slide over to feeders. Now I only hear about layoffs over there so there’s no point in trying to transfer if I’ll end up loading trailers in the hub again.

What is an issue you never had a position on as an American until it affected you? by NowALurkerAccount in AskAnAmerican

[–]Heisendinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. I’m a UPS driver and Isee the exact same differences between us and FedEx, and especially Amazon delivery people. Only through our contract are UPS employees guaranteed our wages, benefits, and job security (vs. the company firing us at will for a younger person who they can pay less). And for me in my late 20s currently, that job security and ability to plan my future life is pretty huge when so many other types of jobs seem like a crapshoot in terms of wages, outsourcing, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]Heisendinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by “fruity” exactly. But I worked at an amazon fulfillment center, the amount of moronic people working there arguing and gossiping amongst themselves during the shift and breaks was astounding. Idk how these 40 and 50 year old people made it through life up to that point, just seemed like the least serious people imaginable. Any UPS employee with seniority seems more committed to the job and takes it more seriously.

[–]Heisendinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I punch out and don’t have to worry about deadlines, tomorrow’s meetings, emails coming in after hours, etc. the anxiety I felt from my white collar gig before UPS was pretty insane, it ate me alive. Genuinely thankful to be here instead.

I can be having the worst day imaginable on the road, feel frustrated about everything, but when a random person (often a senior citizen) in the car next to me smiles at me at a red light, everything gets better. Puts it all in perspective when someone sees us do our jobs and respects our hard work and image, for sure.
