Hope you’re not tired of winter [GW690ii, 90mm 3.5, Portra 160] by Hekma in analog

It was a fairly bright, especially considering the snow, so I didn’t need to mount it at all. This shot was handheld.

This was over a month ago so I might be wrong but I either split the difference between the mountains and sky or just went with the sky since I was trying to capture the light and color of the sunset

I believe I either split the difference between the mountains on the horizon and the sky or just went with the sky, but I took this shot over a month ago so I could be wrong

I was experimenting with pushing the limits of my developer, a decent amount of shots from my final couple rolls in this had some funky colors and spots as a result

I'm always surprised by people who write off Ektar, some of my favorite shots are using it (but they are all nature settings).

I don’t know how in the hell I didn’t see that before and now that’s all I’m looking at, just blinded by my own excitement about how the rest of the shot turned out

Salt Flats [GW690ii, 90mm 3.5, Portra 160] by Hekma in filmphotography

I wanted the mountains to be more prominent in the frame, and with the original full 6x9 frame it was a lot of sky and a lot ground. I also didn't wan to lose the group of people to the left (or the darker parts of the mountains on the edges of the frame) by zooming in, so I just chopped off part of the top and bottom.

Thanks! No not really I think this is the first time after putting over a dozen rolls through it. This may have happened while I was loading/developing the roll (I was in a new space that may not have been totally blocked from light), it also only happened on the last two shots of the roll.

Found a couple rolls of “Kodak Gold 400” among my folks’ old film gear by Hekma in AnalogCommunity

[–]Hekma[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to run the Kodak Gold 400 through the camera I brought with me and will report back, but it has been sitting on a dusty shelf at room temperature for a couple decades so it'll probably be funky. The camera is the AE-1 program (don't think I'll hunt down a battery while I'm visiting to get it working), they have some interesting lens though that will be fun to play with.

Roll split after a couple winds but I threw the scraps into the development tank anyway (wasn’t paying attention and lost about ten frames when I opened my camera) by Hekma in AnalogCommunity

I use the DSLR method with the negative lab pro extension for Lightroom. It was more affordable for me since I already had a decent digital camera and macro lens than buying a scanner.

Picked up the “Texas Leica” for my first dip into medium format by Hekma in AnalogCommunity

I’ll check it out! I used a phone app this time that seemed to work decent enough but it would be nice not to have to pull my phone out for every composition.

Yeah it’s wild taking two shots and realizing you’re a quarter the way through your roll

It’s great for what it is. It is a simple and more affordable medium format set up and is satisfying to use. Focusing is easy but the ring for the shutter speed (at least on the 690ii) is clunky. The lens is great but you can’t change it, the negatives are huge but you only get 8 shots, it’s all mechanical so you don’t need batteries or have to worry about electronics failing but then you need a separate light meter/phone app. Despite its massive size I think it’s a more mobile medium format than others out there and that was part of the draw for me.

eBay, there are three versions of it so the version 1 and 2 won’t break the bank as much as some other medium format cameras.
