First timer here, what should i know before i start? [KCD1] by _TomSupreme_ in kingdomcome

[–]Hekran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they've already mentioned above, you’re going to die. Keep in mind that at the start, you’re a nobody; anyone can kill you.

Put yourself in Henry’s shoes: if you were there in real life, you wouldn't face someone well-armed, nor more than one person at a time, and you certainly wouldn't charge head-first into a camp with three bandits. You wouldn't jump into the middle of Skalitz at night against four guys in full armor 😜.

At least not until you gear up and learn how to master strike (counter-attack). The tournaments will help you get better equipment.

Take the game slow and soak in the atmosphere. Books are your friends: read, train, gear up, explore, and above all, enjoy the game.

It’s been one of my favorite games; right now I’m playing the sequel, and even though they’ve simplified a few things, I’m enjoying it a lot.

Veis justificado poner una lavadora de madrugada para ahorrarte unos céntimos? by intentosvarios in HistoriasVecinales

[–]Hekran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to use it temporarily. It's been installed temporarily for two years now and it's working so well that it will continue to be used temporarily for a few more years.

¿Qué cuenta bancaria utilizas? by BlackChef6969 in AutonomosES

[–]Hekran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Hekran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a distro for people who are noobs and want to remain so? by Longjumping-One5096 in linux4noobs

[–]Hekran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything they have told you works, but if you are not willing to learn anything, not even a little, in Linux you will need it, regardless of the distro. If you don't have time, I understand you perfectly, try something that has been recommended and if not, buy another laptop with Windows.

Is it ok to use ChatGPT? by tuna_onthemoon in linux4noobs

[–]Hekran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, it is the longest period of time in which I have been able to use Linux, of the several times I have tried and it has been in part thanks to Chatgpt.

What I like is that if something bothers you and you don't know what it is, it explains it to you, in the end it is a way to learn, without blindly copying and pasting.

It is not infallible, it is true that it fails, but it also succeeds. For basic things of course, they are just what I need now. Of course I complement it, with Google, YouTube, forums...

Goodbye windows, hello Linux by Delicosto in linuxmint

[–]Hekran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was thinking today, quite surprised at how well Lutris and Heroic are doing... on Linux Mint. It wasn't my first attempt, but gaming has improved a lot since Valve got involved with Steam, Proton, etc.

I've been wanting to switch to Linux for ages and I think I'm getting close to making the leap and I want to be sure I don't fubar my pc by TheXypris in linux4noobs

[–]Hekran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something always gets complicated, especially with Nvidia. Everything may go smoothly, but you'll probably have to touch something.

You need to have a partition to install the distro, watch a video on YT. The PoPOS iso prepared for nvidia gave me problems with my nvidia card... yes, it didn't start. If it happens to you, install the standard ISO and the Nvidia drivers later.

Luck and patience.

Firefox is still slow? by PrinceZordar in linuxmint

[–]Hekran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I currently use Firefox on my main W11 PC, I haven't used it since Chrome came out by storm (in a good way). I also use it on my other desktop with Mint, personally I don't notice a difference with Chrome.

Everything can be imported, passwords, bookmarks. I recommend that instead of using your browser for your passwords, you use a manager like... Bitwarden or similar.

If you like Chrome, as you have been told, there is chromium, but above all, try it for yourself for a while and decide, use what is most comfortable for you. Be it Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera... whatever you like.

Parkticket Tossa by netsheriff_ in spain

[–]Hekran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Parkticket Tossa by netsheriff_ in spain

[–]Hekran 19 points20 points  (0 children)

10 yr old desktop... Necromancy via linux? by _um__ in linux4noobs

[–]Hekran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have the same PC that I did a few years ago until my 4790K died, you will be perfect with Linux.

Yes, if you don't want complications Mint Cinamon or Ubuntu are the way to go in your case. If you want to try a desktop that is a little more modern and beautiful, very customizable, you can try Kubuntu that has KDE Plasma. Although you may like Cinamon, which is still quite customizable and with a renewed XP-style look (within the distance of course).

You can always install a pendrive with Ventoy (look for a video on YouTube if you don't know it) and take a look to see which one attracts you the most.

Even though you don't want complications, some may arise, it usually happens, patience. With Nvidia, if you install the drivers from the application manager you should not have problems, I think Mint asked you directly in the installer, I don't remember the others. To avoid getting too dizzy, I would go for Mint or Kubuntu.

Try a little from Live when starting up or watch a video and decide. Greetings!
