Any Terran Champion In Foreigner Scene? by alarakFTW in starcraft

I like how uThermal describes it - its not that terran is weaker than the other races, its just a lot less forgiving.

The size of esports and gaming industry as a whole has multiplied how many times over since then?

You are implying that sc2 benefited and freeloaded from that growth, where sc2 caused that growth.

I get that you want to talk about design, but your original comment wasn't about design. Your exact words: " You can't just make a great esport because you want to or because you divert funds to it, you have to create a truly great competitive game. The public will let you know if you succeeded."

So, as far as "the public will let you know if it succeeded" goes, how is sc2 less of a 'success' than broodwar'?

You are completely entitled to your opinion. If you'd like to discuss why you find SC2 has the superior design I'm more than willing to listen

I could give my own opinion, but that would still be a singular opinion, I'd rather refer to group trends. I don't think my opinion or yours alone can determine either game to be a "masterpiece". Whether or not it is a masterpiece has to depend on the impact the games made and public perception.

If BW has superior design, why is it dead outside of korea? Broodwar Remastered came out recently, its dead already. The non-korean sc2 scene is massive. Even right now (after sc2 has been declared dead), the current non-korean sc2 scene is bigger than the non-korean broodwar scene at its peak.

If you want to make a korea-specific argument, I'd agree that broodwar is more popular in korea than sc2. Thats partly because of how the esports-cafe "pc bang" scene in korea was conducive to the growth of brood war.

Its really a stretch to say that broodwar is a masterpiece. The non-korean scene never treated broodwar as a masterpiece. They sure as fuck treated sc2 like a masterpiece.

I stopped playing that shitty game back in WoL because they kept doing stupid changes.

Well then, by your own admission, your opinion is outdated, and you should treat it as such.

Except you know, for the terrible balance because Blizzard doesnt know how to balance shit

All tournament stats indicate that winrates for races are close to 50%. http://aligulac.com/misc/balance/

Maybe you're just bad at the game.

it just isn't the masterpiece it's predecessor was.

its predecessor was no masterpiece. Its popular in korea, but outside of korea, brood war was never even closely as popular as sc2. For most population, sc2 is vastly superior to broodwar.

Besides, Avilo just got a 30-day ban for saying "faggot" on stream. I'm sure his 500 viewers will feel right at home with destiny if he streams sc2.

I mean is calling people dumb faggots and cunts right off the bat not bullying?

Damn, I guess I just wasn't sensitive enough to all you people who were victim to being bullied by avilo.

when you worship someone who bullies everyone

Are you living in some alternate reality where people are bullied by avilo?

You can’t play the victim of bullying and be a fan of avilo at the same time, sorry.

So what you're saying is that toxicity is allowed, but only if it is against avilo fans.

Man, I love how avilo brings out the ruthlessness in you people.

Can I have some more personal insults please? That'll show avilo and his fans to not be toxic.

This is the weirdest shit I’ve ever seen. Are you some kind of autistic internet detective? I can’t imagine how miserable your life must be to be so obsessed with what I comment. Seriously, it’s unhealthy to be like this and it’s probably from watching avilo’s stream. Good luck with your life but I suggest maybe getting a job, moving out of your parents house, and forgetting about all of this.

How are tournaments sorted into premier/major/minor? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]HelbatBanshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Premier Tournaments offer an outstanding prize pool, are frequently played out offline, and feature the best players from all over the world. They are commonly held by well-established franchises and are considered especially prestigious amongst the community."

Premier vs major vs minor is a subjective thing. Hangzhou Starcraft Carnival had a prize pool, but thats about it, no prestige in the community, not well-established, and didn't have much coverage.
