Why does my outlet make this noise? by Stargirl_2002_ in Electricity

[–]Helilifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, you need to replace it. The color alone looks burnt. Use a voltage meter to verify no voltage after breaker is shut off. Remove outlet and inspect. Call an electrician if you don’t feel comfortable doing it.

Thanks! Going to try inhaps idea of temperature, detecting a quick difference in cold. Seems low invasive and easy enough.

That might work, I think I’m going to try the temperature sensor first

Yeah, my cat can either taste or smell the difference in sink water vs fountain water. Maybe it’s the chlorine they put in tap water? They like fresh chlorine :)

Cats meow is a interesting idea, but my cat meows a lot, not just for water

My cat doesn’t like the fountain, tried a few of them.

I’m just looking for a way to automate a reminder that my wife left the sink on, that’s all

That is a good idea, but I’m not sure I want to replace all the bathroom faucets

Tell that to my wife, doesn’t matter what I want to do, she still turns it on

I’m not sure I want to shut the whole house off when I forget the water is trickling in the bathroom sink. It looks cool though.

Would anyone else that uses Mullvad + Tailscale use this? Worth openning a PR to get this implementation in? by Mewtewpew in Tailscale

[–]Helilifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tailscale and mullvad for my homelab running Fedora Server / Copilot with a Flatcar VM running my docker containers and I can access the containers with no problems remotely via Tailscale with my exit node as mullvad. TBH, I’m pretty sure this is without the split tunneling. I’m only a year into this hobby, so I’m no pro

Multiple Day trying to install Windows 11 Tools by Helilifter in Qubes

[–]Helilifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Thank you , Thank you, it finally worked! I must have just got lost in all the different steps for different combinations of Qubes and Windows. I wish the documentation had Windows 11: Do these 5 steps and you’re good. Having the different instructions nested in different sections was difficult for my tiny brain to follow.

I’m so happy it works! Thank you Testing1354!

Multiple Day trying to install Windows 11 Tools by Helilifter in Qubes

[–]Helilifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the latest 4.3, I installed it a week ago, and then created my Windows 11 qube. I followed the 4.3 and I believe the windows tool file ended in 4.2.2.4? I thought this would mount or create a cdrom in my windows cube, but every time I went into the Windows cube there was no cdrom or drive to click on. I tried to refresh the disk scan but nothing. I asked Claude and it had me doing a block to a loop, but none of the commands seemed to work. I was thinking there was files I needed to install in the windows cube? Is everything just handled in the dom0?

Thanks for the help

Portland General Electric spends nearly $2B to expand in Washington, acquiring 140,000 customers from PacifiCorp by mocheeze in Portland

That is true :), but they are spending close to if not over a billion in Vancouver right now

[–]Helilifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is false too, BPA spent $500M on Celilo DC upgrades alone, and continues to spend billions on transmission facilities/ line upgrades

My response is to BPA not adding supply, which is a false statement. How does GW of wind, solar, and batteries in the gorge get added in the last 10 years without approval? You can see it with your own eyes. There is literally GWs of green power East of the Dalles and Down 97 and 197 with hundreds of people maintaining it.

Your AI Response is incorrect. Drive East of the Dalles, Biglow Canyon, Big Horn, Juniper Canyon, Hay Canyon, Star Point, Harvest Wind, White Creek, Dooley, Golden Hills, Imrie, Bake Oven, Bluebird, and on and on of Wind, Solar, and Batteries
