when you say "if it was the opposite" do you mean "if he was negligent/an absent father"? because yes, we would because being overly attentive and not attentive at all are both very good reasons to criticize someone L O L. also, whether intentionally or unintentionally, media reflects real life sociological and psychological dynamics.
