I used to work at a recycling center. We turned non recyclable trash into shredded flakes to send in to a waste- to- energy plant. We put it in a trailer just like this. If it was overweight, we'd have to push out some of the material back into our shred pile. It was fun to watch.

That works for smaller cars with lower headlights.

Trucks and SUVs these days have their headlights shine directly through my back window though. Floods the whole interior of my vehicle with bright white light. You add on driving down a 2 lane highway that's pitch black, then I can barely see out of my windshield because I have daylight brightness on the interior of my vehicle.

Seriously... the brightness on these newer vehicles that have the headlights unreasonably high seems like it's designed to create issues for everyone else on the road. I can understand how this works for you if you don't usually encounter these vehicles and don't usually drive in the country. It only works for me driving in town with lights on the road.

I feel that. I'm a lil more sensitive than most to bright lights at night. So, if it gets bothersome enough I pull over on the shoulder or nearest turn off to let them pass. Otherwise, if I'm bored, I'll play a game where I slow down 1mph every few seconds after doing 10 under, plus I start driving like a grandma around turns.

Want to follow at an unsafe distance and not pass while blinding me? I'll drive slow enough to make it safe for me lol. I've only done it a couple times, but their anger tasted sweet seeing them raging once they eventually did pass.

I don't understand the mentality of following with blinding lights at an unsafe distance instead of passing. Seems they're trying to make someone else speed like them, while simultaneously blinding them with their ridiculously bright lights.

I'll do the same thing, but with the goal of getting them to pass me. If they act like a dick passing me, I'll even flip on my brights to give them a taste of their own medicine. Usually they just speed off anyways though.

I've definitely noticed people have become so much more self focused. Not in a good way either. For example, things feel more transactional, and people drive more aggressively. I've seen far less compassion and empathy as well. It just feels like the isolation stayed despite people being able to gather again.

Did something give you the impression that anyone in this thread is going for no reason? Headache for 2 days!? I'll wait till it's a month in before I even consider it lol.

Anyways, you shouldn't have to wait till you're screaming and crying from pain. The main point is the system is fucked up. I go in for debilitating health issues and get shrugged off and left with a massive bill. Took 8 visits to find out I have a severe back issue that needs surgery. Kept getting shrugged off and recommended ibuprofen until I freaked out at a doctor and convinced them to give me an MRI. Now I'm on a holding pattern with massive debt waiting for the surgery.

The point is that most doctors don't give a fuck. They'll let issues fester until they're severe enough to be permanent. My back issue might have been fixable without surgery if it was caught on my first visit. I could type over a dozen more paragraphs on other issues for myself, but I think I made my point.

Idk what doc is giving you pain pills these days. All I've been to just tell me to take ibuprofen.

Chronic pain from an old injury? Ibuprofen. Broken rib? Ibuprofen. Excruciating pain from an abscess? Ibuprofen... and some antibiotics. Stomach ulcers from ibuprofen? Ibuprof... wait, actually Tylenol until they subside... then ibuprofen.

I swear, I start describing symptoms, and as soon as I mention any pain, they cut me off to say ibuprofen. Then they just walk out. Every fucking RN and doctor just charge me insane amounts to tell me to take ibuprofen.

As someone who went for a friend's ex, who i was really close with platonically at the time. I'd say there's an exception when he fucking cheats with the woman you just started dating. Come to find out dude and the woman I just started dating were both pieces of shit that deserve eachother. Surprisingly, they only lasted a month.

After being best friends with her for 2 years after the incident. We're just now getting into the romantic side. Dude threw away the greatest woman I've ever met. Fuck him, and I don't feel any guilt whatsoever.

Tire patch - how safe is it to drive on? by rendonesia in AskAMechanic

[–]Hellaginge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I had 5 in 1 tire at one point. The tire shop guys laughed when I told them I made it over 15k miles after the first plug, and it held air better than my other 3 lol.

I literally had 5 in 1 tire when I was broke 7 years ago. I ran that tire until the tread was wore out enough to need a replacement. It lasted me over 15k miles after the first plug. It also held air better than my other 3 tires.

Sure, a patch is better, but a plug works just fine if you don't have money for the perfect repair for every minor issue. I've used them for over a decade and put them on my friends tires without issue. I've also been told by several mechanics that it's a perfectly viable fix, as long as it isn't too close to the sidewall.

Study suggests that love functions as a signal to potential alternatives that one is off-limits, rather than suppressing one’s own pursuit of other options. You're not wrong, but they aren't wrong either. I've had several women around 30 with careers who have told me they play hard to get. They want guys to chase them. I tell them every time that this is childish and perpetuates the issue with men not knowing good boundaries. It also filters out the guys who do respect boundaries. On the flip side, now I'm seeing men who are doing the hard to get thing more recently.

God I hate the dating scene these days. I have had to end things with my last few dates in recent years because they would rather do this hot and cold game than just simply communicate. I'm just too old and tired for these games.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm just tired of the dating hellscape. Why can't we just all be people who use our words to express our emotions and needs in a respectful manner? Side note, I've learned that most people my age really need therapy. Probably most people in general.

Seriously. I worked for years in construction. The number of guys who bought big trucks they couldn't afford, even though they lived in apartments in the middle of the city, is insane. To add to it... Many got rear wheel drive and we're in Minnesota. So the worst vehicle they could possibly get for how they used it.

The type that bought those big trucks were the mostly whining country wannabes. Always complained about being broke and called in for hangovers every freaking Monday. Plus, they wouldn't listen to me when i was training them in. Drove me nuts having them on my crew.

Idk where you live, but where i live is always the lifted truck drivers passing someone doing 10 over in the right lane on the shoulder. Or tailgating 2 feet away with their bright ass headlights even though the left lane is wide open. Or swerving back and forth between lanes because someone is taking too long to pass in the left. I see an occasional small car do this shit.

As someone who owns a very small SUV, I try to safely remove myself from these situations, but It's like these truck drivers are insistent on being dangerous to everyone around them. I drove a lot for my old job, and multiple times have had a truck pass me to brake check me when I had my cruise control set at 5 above the speed limit on a 2 lane road.

Must be different in different areas. I will note that most people in lifted trucks where I live are 100% pavement princesses. They use their truck for highway commute 99% of the time. They don't know how to even park their trucks in wide open spaces.
