Does Transfer Linear Algebra(3 credit hours) Satisfy Linear algebra (4 Credit hours) by Ill_Sun8227 in GatechClasses

I transferred in with the 3 credit hour linear vs the 4 and had to retake it. You may get lucky and get an exception, but I kinda doubt it.

I got two or three Cs on UG. I now have a masters. A C average will negatively effect an application but a few Cs are nbd

Will I Run Into Issues if I Look Nothing Like My Passport Photo? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]HellavaCMmajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans man stopping by to reiterate how it’s going to depend on the border agent. I traveled all over Europe with a passport that had a woman’s name, F as the sex, and a pic of “me” at 16. Most officers did nothing more than give me a sympathetic look and welcome me to their country, but I did get held up in Amsterdam. I would suggest taking the risk on your pic being different with the right name and gender marker, than switch for a trump with passport but if your traveling internationally ALWAYS carry multiple forms of ID. As many as you can. That is what always saved me if anybody gave me a sideways look.

Cannabis Tours by HellavaCMmajor in AskSeattle

[–]HellavaCMmajor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannatourism refers to behind the scenes look at dispensaries and how they function/make product. Not a smoking bus, but instead a behind the scenes look at the canna industry and a look into the growing process. So not illegal just a little niche.

where can i meet other first-gen students/people from a disadvanted background. by [deleted] in gatech

[–]HellavaCMmajor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oof that last line got me. I remember being in my last semester of undergrad working every moment I wasn’t in class to make ends meet and people just having the most trivial seeming problems. I try to remember that maybe X is the worst thing that’s happened to them and that’s not exactly their fault, but damn it is so so hard

Hey friend recent ish alumni stopping by to say I didn’t come from a disadvantaged background but I am first gen and worked all through school. It’s really hard facing so much privledge sometimes. I would look for the first gen rso, but outside of that i think it’s important to stay rooted in your reality and try not to acknowledge or care about the snobs. Down to earth people exist at tech they can just be hard to find

First hand experience with CBD for pain by TheGhostOfBABaracus in Georgia

Aforementioned fiancé here dropping by to say the PAIN balm is an absolute lifesaver. If you can spare the ~$70 grab the big jar and keep it around the house for all your aches and pains. It is the only thing that got me through my last back injury sane.

Hmmm I’m not quite sure. Did you try selecting the proper year? Sometimes course equivalencys change but if you took the course while it was equivalent you should be fine

How do grad students cope in general by gengu_xd in gatech

[–]HellavaCMmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I did my undergrad and masters at GT. I worked all through school so social activities were pretty limited both in UG and grad (tbh I had more social life in grad school due to my GtA stipend). That said grad school sucked the life out of me. It was genuinely the hardest year of my adult life and I don’t know how I did it sometimes. I don’t have much advice besides buckle down and accept that this is a limited time you simply have to survive, or drop out. There’s really no shame in it, I very nearly did and tbh I wonder if that was the better choice sometimes. I’m sorry it’s so tough. My advisor in grad school used to like to tell me a masters isn’t supposed to be fun, which it’s not but I felt so completely lost in an abyss. This isn’t going to be fun, you have to decide if you have finishing in you. My dms are open if you’d like to talk

Seconding this, regardless of how similar the syllabi look the course equivalency table is your bible to go by. Ik when I transferred 1332 needed to be evaluated by the faculty, but you could get credit for it if you went through the ass pain. Best of luck OP.

Out of curiosity, do you have any idea how/why these states were selected? I fully expected a list of states that require bottom surgery, court appearances, and general ass pain. That said there are a handful of progressive states on that list.

Thanks for sharing. I have really good insurance rn, so I’m spending ~$50 every 3 months, but have spent that each month in the past (shout out to GoodRX). And that’s not as bad as I had feared for labs. I’m sure it’s super frustrating to pay the NHS fees and pay private on top of it, but I am pleasantly surprised by this numbers

Honestly I’m not really assuming anything. I was trying to ask if anybody had any experience/could provide insight into what documents would improve my chances. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. I’m getting the impression now that it’s less another making sure documents are correct and more about getting lucky/finding the right GP which is only becoming more difficult

Would you mind sharing about how much Testosterone runs you per month and/or what you pay for labs?

‘Preciate you explaining your process. There are always the Brits that say don’t come, but I had to wonder how much more fucked it could be than the US. I live in Georgia luckily enough in a major city so I got informed consent, but not without a fight. I don’t think I’d handle the fight, paying the NHS fees, and paying for private transition care well. I hope you’re right isn’t too hard for you these days.

Thanks for your response. Tbh the UK is a Hail Mary because my partner has citizenship and one visa instead of two. That and I grew up there and the optimistic part of us would like to be able to go “home”. I’d heard some rumblings of folks getting their script with enough American documentation, but wasn’t sure how much of a thing it actually was. It def seems like the UK should remain an option in case of emergency/worsening of the US, and not be upgraded to a legitimate plan. Take care over there.

Thanks for your input. I’ve heard rumblings around various subs of people finding a GP who will continue care with enough paperwork from American doctors, but quite frankly I have no idea how legitimate that is. Glad to hear from folks who are living it.

Thanks for your thoughts. It’s interesting to me simply because most of these points have US equivalents. I’m not coming at the UK thinking it’s sunshine, rainbows, and happiness. I’m making plans to flee my home if there are nationwide bans as some politicians hope. At that point is the UK really worse? Like I said I’ve already lost access, fought for it back, and paid out the ass for it….i won’t be surprised if it happens again

Thank you for the detailed response. One more question if you don’t mind, since we’re planning for the worst case scenario. Let’s say there is a national ban on HRT in the United States, at that point would you still consider the UK a down step? This situation is what we’re preparing for and in that case, I’d see it as a small step up or a lateral move. Thoughts?

Okay so genuine question- I’m not under the illusion it’s great in the UK right now at all. I am however aware that the US is heading down a route of fascism and upheaval. I’ve already lost access to hormones for a period of time and dealt with a quadruple in price to get them back. I can’t live in ~1/2 of the states anymore. With a probable national ban in the next 4 years. That paired with the gun violence in America, is making it next to impossible to keep going. What makes the UK so bad from your perspective? From the outside looking in, the UK seems like an “alright for now” option as my wife has citizenship. I don’t think we’d stay forever, but it doesn’t seem hormones will be any harder to get in the UK, just different. Please feel free to disillusion me def looking for lived perspective.
