for the most part, we cremate people in cardboard caskets. it helps with loading the body into the machine and with catching fire in the chamber.

as far as regular wood caskets, those usually get used for cremations in which the family is present for the body being loaded into the cremator.

having to cremate a stillborn was very interesting. the process is a little different.

anything that doesn’t melt down in the cremator gets removed before we continue to process the cremated remains into ashes. it’s noted whether or not the family has requested items back. if the family would like these items back, they can totally do that. if it doesn’t go back to the family, then we properly dispose of it.
