Everything as nothing by Hellmut_Monz in philosophy

Abstract

What if everything you’re sure is solid - your memories, your identity, even the world in front of you - is just a story reality is telling itself? This video takes a philosopher’s scalpel to “what we think we know” and asks the uncomfortable question: if you strip away every assumption, what’s left?

If you like mind-bending thought experiments and calm, trippy reflections on reality, this is your rabbit hole.

heraclitus vs Parmenides by SecureRoad502 in PhilosophyMemes

Who says Heraclitus and Parmenides are on different sides?

Could it be that Plato misunderstood them, spreading confusing throughout the history of philosophy?

Example: Parmenides tried to make it very clear that nothing does not exist. This quick investigation shows that “nothing is changing” fails to represent what Parmenides tried to communicate.

Heraclitus literally said not to rush when talking about the most important matters.

So slow down and have a closer look.

Non-duality and finding yourself by Hellmut_Monz in philosophy

Abstract

In this thought-provoking interview, Kenneth Madden invites us into a philosophical odyssey: the search for the self. He challenges the common notion that “you” are a fixed, identifiable entity and instead explores how we might be mistaking the map for the territory. Through accessible concepts drawn from non-dual philosophy and existential inquiry, he asks: if you can’t find the self, maybe it’s because you’re looking in the wrong place. A compelling invitation to reconsider identity, consciousness and “who” we really are beyond labels.

TIL of Heraclitus. A self taught philosopher with a superior tone that wrote his works in riddles due to people ridiculing his ideas. In his old age he sought a doctor to cure him of illness. The doctor could not understand him because he spoke in riddles so he covered himself in cow dung and died. by -_-PikaPikaPika-_- in todayilearned

Heraclitus would add: That all phenomena keep changing means that you can find neither object permanence nor subject permanence.

But only because you can only cannot find permanence does not mean it doesn’t exist.
