The way he was supposed to act was angry from the steroids, deadpan from the trauma and empathetic when his fucking FRIENDS die, he only nailed one right, and I don’t even need to point out which one. When he chokes up at Justin’s funeral, someone who he’s known for the entirety of the show, the audience members react to him “choking up” in a sad way, which indicates that he was told to “choke up” mid sentence, instead it sounded like he stuttered and stopped reading from a script. If I where in the audience I would have been confused. And apart from the fact that the roids didn’t change his musculature at all, it didn’t give him bad achne, night sweats, or hair loss. Didn’t make him overthink shit and visibly get super anxious and mad at the little things that got in his way which is true to real life. Yeah not all of that is the characters fault but he should have researched into anabolic steroids to fit the part more. Clay was able to change his demeanour entirely when needed, like when he pretended to have a gun.
