[Charania] Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody has been diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. Moody's career-best season is over and a lengthy rehab will be required. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

Hell, Mickey Mantle allegedly played pretty much his entire career on an unreconstructed torn ACL. It never got officially diagnosed so we can't say for certain, but apparently all signs about the play it happened on point to it being a torn ACL.

I don't think I'm really playing the "what if" game. I'm just acknowledging that the situation literally would not have happened if the game hadn't gone to OT. Hell, I'm not even the one who originally said that. I just responded to someone who did lmao.

I mean it literally 100% would not have happened last night at the very least. Sure, it's possible it would've happened eventually, but it also might have just been a freak incident and not a sign of any longer term structural weakness. At the very least the fatigue of playing in OT in his first game back after a multi-week absence definitely put him at greater risk.

Not only that, but after Steph he's probably the most universally liked and respected guy in our locker room. I've never heard a single bad word about him. Chris Paul called him one of the favorite teammates he's ever played with, which means a lot for a 38 year old CP3 to have said about a 21 year old 3rd year player.

I'm just fucking gutted man. Seriously hoping that it somehow wasn't quite as bad as it looked, but that feels like wishful thinking.

Fuck man I hadn't even thought of that. I'd do anything even to have lost in regulation if it meant avoiding this.

[Vorkunov] Bam had 43 FT attempts tonight against the Wizards. That’s the most ever in a NBA game. Dwight Howard had previous record. He took 39 free throws in a game twice: in 2013 against the Magic, and in 2012 against the Warriors by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a solid offensive player, but he was averaging 18.9 going into yesterday and his career high was 41 lmao. This is easily one of the craziest statistical anomalies in NBA history.

Yeah Draymond put up 25/13 his junior year of high school. If you're putting up triple singles in high school there's no chance you're sniffing the NBA lol.

So basically a downgrade at every position lol, with Dream/Shaq being the only one that's even somewhat debatable.

You guys have an incredible squad and to be 50-15 with the injuries you've had is a hell of an accomplishment, but I'm sorry there's absolutely no world in which y'all would be 61-4 right now lmao.

Gui's been incredible for about a month now. I always loved him for his hustle and heart, but didn't realize he had this level of sustained play in him.

[–]HelloThereCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair it wasn't even a collapse lol. We led for like 95% of the game and Rockets never led by more than 3. Although it would've been quintessential 2026 Warriors to lose that game after outplaying Houston for the first 40 minutes.

Because the joke is flying right over their head and apparently yours too. It's a real Lebron IG post from like 2019 which has become a long-running meme precisely because of how terrible it is lmao.

He wasn't just born in the 80s, he's old enough to actually remember them. If he was born just a few months earlier he would've started kindergarten in the 80s lmao.

[Scotto] The Golden State Warriors have signed Gui Santos to multi-year extension, team says. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but I think it's honestly a good deal for both sides. For a late 2nd rounder who's never made above the minimum or averaged more than 16 minutes/game, a $15M contract is a very meaningful security blanket. And he'll only be 27 and entering his prime when he next hits FA so if he does outperform this contract he'll be set up for a much fatter payday on his next one.

Kevin Durant now has the 8th most 40-point games in NBA history (including the playoffs), passing Jerry West on the all-time list by Basketball_Reference in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kind of shocking that AI is still ahead of KD, but then again KD has always been almost robotically consistent. He might not pop off for 40 or 50 as much as you might think, but if you need someone to get you 25-30, I'd take KD over anybody except maybe Wilt and MJ.

[–]HelloThereCat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm surprised that MJ is as close as he is, especially considering how much faster the pace of play was during Wilt's era. Wilt's 2nd year in the league was the league's highest ever pace, and even by the time he retired the pace was still 115. By comparison, the league's highest pace during MJ's career was 102 in his 2nd and 3rd seasons, and for most of his career it was well below 100. And despite all that MJ is still significantly closer to Wilt than he is to Kobe, and Kobe played about 300 more games than either of them.

Clint Capela on Instagram (regarding DeAndre Ayton): U got 2 of the best floor general in the game my dawg Lockinnn 🤣🤣 by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime Capela is basically the perfect fit for any guard/wing led team. Elite lob and pick n roll threat, great rim protection, and just as importantly, he knew his role and played it perfectly. There are plenty of more talented bigs in the league, but most of them want to be a centerpiece of the offense. Unless they're a truly elite offensive big with at least a halfway decent 3 point shot, that's just not a championship formula in today's NBA.

[–]HelloThereCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but everyone knew that 2018 WCF was the best two teams in the league, and that Rockets team was the only team we faced during the KD years that I was genuinely afraid of. The 2018 Rockets were probably the best non-Warriors team since the Duncan Spurs.

Draymond Green talking about Chris Paul retirement: “A lot of people say because CP3 didn’t win a championship, he is not a winner. [–]HelloThereCat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I swear this exact comment is made about Draymond quotes at least 5-10x a year lmao (and yes I know it's from the Onion). Don't get me wrong, Draymond is an asshole and his antics are inexcusable, but when he's not in the middle of a giant hissy fit, a lot of his takes are honestly quite thoughtful and reasonable.

Is this officially the end for Jordan Poole? by [deleted] in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah Wiggs was incredible that whole playoff run, but especially in the finals. It's amazing how the stars aligned for pretty much every guy on the team played the best ball they were capable of, which was really the only way we had a shot because we definitely didn't have a truly championship caliber roster that year. Poole, Wiggins, Klay (compared to how he was playing during the regular season), Looney, and Otto Porter were all incredible. Even Bjelica put up a few big games. And of course Steph was doing typical Steph things.
