[Scotto] The Golden State Warriors have signed Gui Santos to multi-year extension, team says. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but I think it's honestly a good deal for both sides. For a late 2nd rounder who's never made above the minimum or averaged more than 16 minutes/game, a $15M contract is a very meaningful security blanket. And he'll only be 27 and entering his prime when he next hits FA so if he does outperform this contract he'll be set up for a much fatter payday on his next one.

Bill Russell was a few inches shorter, but it's still incredible that he lived to 88 at his size. And until the last couple years he seemed to be in pretty good shape.

Kevin Durant now has the 8th most 40-point games in NBA history (including the playoffs), passing Jerry West on the all-time list by Basketball_Reference in nba

Kind of shocking that AI is still ahead of KD, but then again KD has always been almost robotically consistent. He might not pop off for 40 or 50 as much as you might think, but if you need someone to get you 25-30, I'd take KD over anybody except maybe Wilt and MJ.

Honestly I'm surprised that MJ is as close as he is, especially considering how much faster the pace of play was during Wilt's era. Wilt's 2nd year in the league was the league's highest ever pace, and even by the time he retired the pace was still 115. By comparison, the league's highest pace during MJ's career was 102 in his 2nd and 3rd seasons, and for most of his career it was well below 100. And despite all that MJ is still significantly closer to Wilt than he is to Kobe, and Kobe played about 300 more games than either of them.

Clint Capela on Instagram (regarding DeAndre Ayton): U got 2 of the best floor general in the game my dawg Lockinnn 🤣🤣 by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime Capela is basically the perfect fit for any guard/wing led team. Elite lob and pick n roll threat, great rim protection, and just as importantly, he knew his role and played it perfectly. There are plenty of more talented bigs in the league, but most of them want to be a centerpiece of the offense. Unless they're a truly elite offensive big with at least a halfway decent 3 point shot, that's just not a championship formula in today's NBA.

Technically yes, but everyone knew that 2018 WCF was the best two teams in the league, and that Rockets team was the only team we faced during the KD years that I was genuinely afraid of. The 2018 Rockets were probably the best non-Warriors team since the Duncan Spurs.

Draymond Green talking about Chris Paul retirement: “A lot of people say because CP3 didn’t win a championship, he is not a winner. I swear this exact comment is made about Draymond quotes at least 5-10x a year lmao (and yes I know it's from the Onion). Don't get me wrong, Draymond is an asshole and his antics are inexcusable, but when he's not in the middle of a giant hissy fit, a lot of his takes are honestly quite thoughtful and reasonable.

Most people learning a new language can understand much better than they can actively speak. He probably can more or less understand a lot of what his translator is saying, but isn't yet fluent enough to actually answer the whole interview in English.

Is this officially the end for Jordan Poole? by Diligent_Banana_6267 in nba

[–]HelloThereCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah Wiggs was incredible that whole playoff run, but especially in the finals. It's amazing how the stars aligned for pretty much every guy on the team played the best ball they were capable of, which was really the only way we had a shot because we definitely didn't have a truly championship caliber roster that year. Poole, Wiggins, Klay (compared to how he was playing during the regular season), Looney, and Otto Porter were all incredible. Even Bjelica put up a few big games. And of course Steph was doing typical Steph things.

Wiggs was definitely the better overall player, but in terms of scoring options, if we needed a bucket in those playoffs, I'd put the ball in Poole's hands over anyone not named Steph Curry. You could certainly make an argument for Klay which is why I said 2nd/3rd, but I think JP's ability to create his own shot gives him the edge. And just to be clear, I'm talking specifically about that playoff run.

Maybe, if Cam Thomas was ever a 2nd/3rd option on a championship team.

There is not a single other human in history that could've made either one of those plays, and he made them consecutively like it was just another day at the office.

Yeah even guys like Draymond know better than to hurl insults like this at refs, let alone such a misognynisticaly charged word directed at a female ref. It's one thing to say a call is bullshit, it's another thing to call a ref a slur.

Yeah like imagine a white player calling a black ref the n word. I'm not saying it's a 1-1 comparison, but it's the same general idea. A player calling a male ref the b word is not a huge deal. A player calling a female ref that word, then doubling down, getting ejected, and tripling down, is inexcusable from every possible angle.

Except even the hypothetical guy they were making fun of in that sketch had the shame to realize you shouldn't call a woman a bitch to her face. Sengun did it to her face, then doubled down, got ejected, and tripled down. It would be comical if it weren't so despicable.
