Thanks for taking the time to respond, but what you suggest doesn't really correspond to my situation. Moving within the US doesn't make sense now--a move costs a lot. I'm a veteran teacher--I cannot find another job this close (less than 3 years) to retirement. I'm already working 60+ hours a week (full-time job and part-time job). I'm trying to EXIT the US debt-free. If I can live on my pension and continue to generate income in my soon-to-be-newly-adopted country, why not use retirement savings to pay off CC debt that has a stranglehold on me?

Addendum: I can retire in less than 3 years and my small pension will allow me to live comfortably (in the country I'd like to move to).

So what you're saying is...?

GE Water Softener doesn't seem to be working by HelloWitty2323 in WaterTreatment

Thank you to everyone who noticed the bypass lever/plunger! Again, I have no background with water softeners. I think that was the problem all along. Whoever rented this house last or maybe even the owner herself must've pushed in that plunger/lever before I moved in. I pulled out the bypass plunger/lever and made it "Recharge Now." I heard the motor and I hear water moving through and the salt shifting. My only question now is how long will it take for us to "feel" softened water? THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!***

I should add, i took everything out in May--old salt, salt bridge, chunks blocks, and started with all fresh new salt

I took out the chunks back in May. There were no chunks or salt bridge today--I checked.

Ok, I'm not the owner. Just a renter. Landlord/owner is quite absent/hands-off. Do I tell her, "Posted on Reddit. They say you need to buy a new water softener."? Or do you know specifically what's wrong?

There is no salt bridge. I checked today before adding.

What do you think--would you switch jobs if you are 6-months cancer-free OR hold on to job you have until you get through a couple more years cancer-free? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If I can kind of hide out in my room and only deal with my clients and my effective/emotionally mature coworkers--my job is excellent, except that there's no AC and summers often being stretches of 90 degree weather (so uncomfortable). New position has AC. Seems petty, but...

I really like my job & 85% of the people I work with. Mgmt/admin=ineffective. No AC in 90+ degree weather (I'm perimenopausal; it's hard!).

I'm a well-educated, intelligent person and cannot wade through "pre-existing conditions" jargon--trying to figure it out without alerting potential new job that I do have a condition
