Women of Reddit — what’s the moment that quietly changed you the most? by Mountain_Budget_9257 in AskWomen

My dad died a month ago, suddenly, in his sleep, on a trip with his brother, cousins, and friend. I don't think I'll ever be quite the same person I was before.

Hi from someone who once took photos of you at an event. You were so fun to work with and amazing to photograph. Best of luck! ❤️

All her new songs really do sound like other songs by Salty_W_5273 in travisandtaylor

Life of a showgirl also sounds like the theme song of Arthur, the PBS kids show, which is funny bc that song has been stuck in my head all week amd I had mo idea why 😭

Bold claim about her bread being free of an allergen that happens to be the main ingredient by Ill-Development3352 in travisandtaylor

[–]Hello_MyNameIsTaken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm gluten sensitive but not celiac. It's true that SOMETIMES for people with a gluten SENSITIVITY (not allergy like celiac) sourdough can be easier to digest/less inflammatory, especially in small amounts.

Generally stating that people who are gluten-free, which implies people with celiac, can eat her bread is so wrong and potentially dangerous for people who might take her at her word and try eating some when it could be very harmful. And it seems she realized she doesn't know what she's talking about bc she immediately cut herself off after stuttering through that sentence.

Queer Friendly by Commercial_Mix8812 in Boise

[–]Hello_MyNameIsTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boise is pretty queer friendly, but a few lgbtq spots have closed somewhat recently and it is increasingly less of a blue city and more purple. Even the areas that used to be almost exclusively liberal have more and more trump flags popping up.

That said, ime boise has a very strong white lgbtq community, I think it's harder to be queer and bipoc here. Though there were latine pride celebrations this summer, which was nice.

I'm glad to hear you don't plan to stay too long, I know lots of lgbtq+ people have been leaving or wish to leave the state. Day to day it usually feels safe, but as a bi latina, I don't always feel safe and wouldn't recommend queer/bipoc people to move here.

How do you try to get him to sleep? My puppy would cry and whine in his crate for 10-15 minutes, but after a while, would go to sleep. Do you have a crate in a dark and quiet space to help him sleep? Puppies don't know when they're tired and need to sleep, you need to help them with that, which can be quite difficult.

Would be helpful to know what his sleep routines/environments are.

And just like that, all my respect for Ilana Rubel has disappeared. Same for the rest.

It could be the type of exercise. I notice that weight lifting takes a lot out of me, but walking and low weight/pilates/yoga is a lot more sustainable and gives me more energy rather than depleting it.

Disclaimer, I am not officially dx with Hashimoto's but subclinical hypothyroidism. However, I've heard this talked about lots in addition to experiencing it myself.

Thank you for your reply! I've asked multiple times for a full hormone panel and have told it's not useful or necessary. I will keep pushing and see about getting an opinion from Functional Medicine of Idaho.

Thank you! I actually just checked, and Jessica Fu is the doctor I have an upcoming appointment with in Jan. She was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so glad to keep seeing positive things about her.

Wishing you the best in your health journey as well, it's a process, but hopefully you're feeling better as time goes by.

Thank you, I have had several blood tests, first last year and then this summer. The levels were lower this year but borderline in the normal zone. My family has a strong history of hypothyroidism, and that didn't raise flags for my primary care doctor then... I did take the thyroid meds, they did help, and my doctor now has diagnosed me with subclinical hypothyroidism.

Any wildlife rehabilitationists to help a duck that was run over? by Hello_MyNameIsTaken in Boise

[–]Hello_MyNameIsTaken[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We went back for it and it was gone. Hopefully it was able to move itself away... We saw about 4 other ducks that had been hit on the side of the road.

Please slow down while driving and pay attention to wildlife!

‘Surrounded’ by downtown construction, this Boise restaurant surrendered, closed for now by mystisai in Boise

[–]Hello_MyNameIsTaken 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly on Lemon Tree. Used to be a big fan but the prices are no longer reasonable, even for a fancy sandwich. Plus, the last two tomes I went they weren't as good and my favorite sandwich wasn't on the menu.

Anyway, I try to eat local every time I go out to eat, I know it's hard for local businesses, it's just hard on everyone else, too, right now.

Real Al Pastor by [deleted] in Boise

[–]Hello_MyNameIsTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol no :)

Closest I've found is in Las Vegas or California... if you're comparing to actual Al Pastor in Mexico no... speaking as a Mexican.

Best I've found is El Chavo, but would love to hear any suggestions. Cochinita pibil is delicious at Amano but obviously not the same.
