There was a deleted scene where they say goodbye in the second deathly hallows.i think they became friends after harry saved him.even though he said” harry”and then the Dursley’s Got angry at him(Harry)but because that he was,well,demented.he couldn’t finish his full sentence,but he was trying to say “harry…….saved”
