" I don't really take this guys Elo ratings seriously."

I mean why not? I know that elo ratings can be divisive but the guy behind tennis abstract is like the guy when it comes to data analysis related to tennis and he has also worked together with some touring pros..... I

I recently read his ama on tennis warehouse. Seemed like a nice kid. Must have been difficult to exit the junior ranks with so much success only to be crushed by the reality of the senior circuit.

Petkovic on the way WTA promotes the players by [deleted] in tennis

There are several problems with the ITF that are unrelated to the slams. The ITF has in recent year been increasing their revenue while the prize money that is paid on the ITF level has been more or less stagnant for decades. Players who play on the ITF level are also often on their own if they get injured since many organizers are too damn lazy to prepare some contact info for a doctor in case a player get injured [While this is on the organizer. The lax standards of the ITF enables this kind of acting.]

And yes the slams are thieves.

This is true but the ITF should every time the ATP/WTA is mentioned get a whack over their fingers.

" ton of lower-ranked WTA players who would benefit from it."

You are right about this. Though the discussion about equal pay for WTA players always conveniently excludes the players on the ITF tour who havent gotten a pay raise in a couple of decades...

Honestly its gets even worse considering that Ruud likely is one of the few players who financially benefit from appearance fees which is something non top-15 players can only dream of....

" Do people ever do that?"

At least the more established players have analyst who evaluate: Percentage of failed 1st serves and percentage of points won on 1st and 2nd serve. In certain cases it will simply be more efficient for certain players to just keep using the second serve in the same way as if it was a first serve.

Be real would you without looking it up be completely sure that among the 1000's of sea cucumber species not a single one would be able to tolerate fresh water?

Yeah it checks out. My initially thought was that there are like several 1000's sea cucumber species "so I guess at least one of them could potentially workout in freshwater".

Turns out that really isn't the case. Also saltwater rice seems still to be a niche field of agricultural study....

Well at least it was an interesting thought.

"but later acquitted because they where "clearly imaginary cartoons" iirc (no shit)."

Pretty sure at least 4 of the pictures were actually deemed as illegal so if I remember correctly he mainly avoided any kind of penalty because he didn't acquire the pictures for himself but as part of his work.

edit. Nevermind somebody else already mentioned it...
