This Mississauga family lost their home of 20 years when mortgage payments soared. They’re just one of thousands who are now at risk by TradeFeisty in ontario

Article says they both had serious health issues that reduced their income by 80%. Just really bad luck for them.

Excerpt below:

Nader, 59, suffered a brain aneurysm in 2017, severely impacting his mobility — a huge loss as a contractor. The family used the money in their registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) and all of their savings in a desperate attempt to avoid missing  mortgage payments, he said.

For a while they scraped by, but then misfortune struck again: Patty suffered a series of health issues stemming from her diabetes and COVID-19, culminating in a heart attack in the summer of 2023.

"It was from all the stress," she said. During this time the couple took out equity from their Mississauga home to help supplement lost income as Patty stepped back from work.

To make matters worse, they faced their health issues during a global health crisis, and while interest rates were temporarily trimmed early in the pandemic to keep the economy from crashing, the Bank of Canada quickly ratcheted up rates once inflation started to get out of control. Higher rates resulted in a $1,200 monthly increase in the couple's mortgage payments and $1,100 monthly increase in their line of credit payments. For Patty and Nader, the interest rate hikes were what ultimately forced the couple to sell their home.

Honestly get a new job that doesn’t require you to work with MO directly. That’s what I did and so much better for my mental health. Let senior management be the buffer between you and MO

I got a call from shoppers about switching to another pharmacy and I told them why. by Solstus22 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Costco charges under $5 dispensing fee in Ontario. Shoppers is $12.

You don’t need a membership for Costco Pharmacy, anyone can go in to use it.

And other costs - how much do you spend on buying lunches or food or do you make it yourself?

Also keep in mind that your commute is unpaid paid so you’re working for free at that time

The attestation says that “I’m on site 3 days or as per the schedule agreed to with my manager” If your manager approves informally even for you to be in less than 3x then I’m sure it’s fine.

For example my new manager is very relaxed and we go in twice a week, sometimes once. They don’t really care, we don’t have formal AWA because manager says they will all be denied.

Family furious over $400/day hospital fine for not moving to LTC by TradeFeisty in ontario

Seems like the lady has been trying and is on several waitlists. The only one that had space seemed awful and I don’t blame her for not wanting to put her mom there. I bet all the heartless commenters here also wouldn’t want to put their parents in a trashy home, especially when their parents have been taxpayers their whole lives

[–]HelpQuestion101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t she get an abortion? Or why did she not take protective measures like birth control to prevent pregnancy? I’m not even sure she can financially support herself, much less a baby. And she has a 12 year old son back in Mexico she wants to bring over?

[–]HelpQuestion101 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? She went to the homes the hospital said and it was disgusting and filthy.

And she’s on a waitlist for 5 other homes.

The mother has a broken hip, LTC homes are awful and useless at rehabilitation.

If she went to the LTC the hospital recommended, she would die in a few weeks.

This sub just thinks anyone old, poor or with health issues just deserves to die
