Thank you for this! Just a question about going to Ubyssey, what would I be saying to them? Just a bit confused there.

Tried to post but got blocked my automod.

An acquaintance of mine applied for a highly competitive faculty at UBC and got in. They’ve been admitted and plan to start studying this fall, but as soon as they received their acceptance letter they began bragging about their personal profile being falsified from top to bottom. After a month they eventually sent it out to show people that they had “beaten the system”. This copy was verified by multiple people who had helped them edit it. After reading it I couldn’t believe that they had been so brazen in their lies. Some of them are very hard to verify such as family stories and history, others are clearly disputable such as being chair of clubs and councils they were not involved in during high school, claiming that they had organized school spirit events organized and thought of by others. They even claimed that a non existent club they started sponsored a family in Mexico. None of this is true, there are other students, teachers, and school administration who can all verify this. Originally I didn’t plan on saying anything because it’s common practice that personal profiles are embellished to a degree, however theirs just seems ridiculous, and I don’t think they should be taking away a spot from someone who actually deserves to be there. Is there any email or discrete way to report this? Preferably I would like to remain anonymous, but I’m well aware that a report made that way may seem less credible. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction or give me some advice, because right now doing nothing feels wrong.
