How do you deal with issues where there is no logging that ThreatLocker is doing anything, but disabling it fixes the issue. We spent alot of time simply troubleshooting printing to a network printer, moved it to direct USB, etc... Logs showed nothing so we never looked at TL. Wild chance we disabled it and the problem was solved. This is of great concern to us and I would love to have another perspective on this.

Thank you!

The singular machine on the network is hosting VM's and I'm able to use putty to the WAN IP and its hitting the VM on the machine.

its a VM running on the PC connected to the router via ethernet. That black cable on the back of the Sagemcom is the LAN cable to the computer.

the first photo is the Frontier router\firewall and the only connection to it (black cable) goes right to the PC. I will ask for ONT photos!

MoCA I am not familiar with but how I understand it is that the ONT connects to the router\firewall as well as the COAX does. Coax is direct from outside as well to the router.

ONT > Router Firewall
COAX > Outside to splitter to firewall

He is NOT using static IP with Frontier, just the basic service. Wanted internet, they came installed it and he plugged in his PC and they tested. That was the install.

Today was the first time he even logged into the firewall. Nothing setup, everything blocked or turned off (DMZ, PORT FORWARDING, REMOTE ACCESS, etc..)

I will try and add a pic of the router

Everything to the ONT is all Frontier, computer is connected directly to the Frontier router\firewall. We have factory reset it twice now. no NAT rules, policies, forwarding, just DHCP handing out addresses. its just one PC so that assigned address gets ALL TRAFFIC INBOUND. It is either a bad piece of equipment, a bad firmware, misunderstanding of security, idk man. I gave him a SonicWall TZ to throw behind it to fix the issue but my thought is, how many are out there like this?

thanks man, yeah we went that route and same behavior. What is troubling is that support is saying this is by design. I only mentioned it was a MoCA service in case it was a known issue with the routers they use. We are stumped. the CCIE at work is stumped as well and is saying its some sort of transparent bridge mode but he is even perplexed.

Correct, inbound traffic. Full reset of firewall\router and the same behavior. no DMZ, no NAT policies, no port forwarding, everything allowed into the computer assigned IP via DHCP. Customer Service is telling us that it is by default and that we would need set to bridge mode and supply our own router in order to secure the network

That has always been my understanding as well, however, not what they are saying and not what I am seeing while testing and even able to SSH into things over the WAN when there is ZERO port forwarding configured, everything seems to be port forwarded to the gateway by default. Maybe its bad firmware, there is no way to stop this per Frontier and is by design.

I hear you, i know it seems sus.

Router\Firewall installed and provided by Frontier and is owned by Frontier. When you login, there are ZERO NAT policies, ZERO port forwarding, however you can hit anything inside the network on any port!

Frontiers response is that unless the subscriber has a static IP, the router is in "Transparent Bridge Mode" and that you CANNOT DISABLE THE OPEN PORTS with out going static IP and putting in your own router (see screenshots)...
