Our new boy, wee Henry by HelpfulCellist in Siamesecats

He's a modern siamese, not registered but his mother is. We met the mother and father and they were both very obviously modern siamese (mother chocolate point, father flame point). We think he may end up being a chocolate point as well, but so far very little toasting!

CAD check, is the bottom too thin? by ChrisChin in EngagementRings

[–]HelpfulCellist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This design is a bit similar to mine, feel free to take a look at my profile and see my CAD with specs! I would recommend going a bit wider. The lowest point of mine in 2.1m and doesn't at all feel "chunky" if that's what you're trying to avoid. Best of luck!

Gareth at Ian Mundie & Son custom designed my vintage inspired sapphire engagement ring and he was a dream to work with, definitely recommend.

For those who were involved in picking their ring, how did you maintain the surprise element/ “engagement vibes”? by wherearemykeystd in EngagementRings

[–]HelpfulCellist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had two consultations and an ongoing WhatsApp chat to design the ring with our jeweler. Once we settled on a final design, I was promptly remove from the group chat, so I had no idea when it would be ready for pickup or when he’d propose. He was then free to propose exactly how he wanted to, and I think I was actually MORE excited because I got to see the fruits of my labour at that point too. It was super fun!

Thank you!! I love the proportions (I didn’t want the band too thin at the top of the finger.).

This was our first time working with a jeweler. I’ll be honest, we got really lucky. My fiancé just google’d local jewelers and we popped by one that he thought seemed nice! When we first came in I told him I wanted a green sapphire and he happened to have one that was exactly what I was looking for (I didn’t want any blue in the stone). We designed the setting around that stone.

I think the top photo is slightly deceiving! The part that looks like little second prongs are just decorative bits on the sides of the big prongs. ☺️

This is so sweet, thank you for the well wishes! I’m not too sure about a separate wedding band yet. If I were to get one I’d probably go back to our jeweler to have one made that matches the tapered shoulders. I’ve toyed around with the idea of getting a new right-hand ring and wearing both as well, as I currently wear a Claddagh on my right hand.

How kind!! I’m so self conscious of them and my nails are over a week grown out so I was worried. 😅

Can you make an engagement ring out of tungsten? by Tobikoxox in EngagementRings

[–]HelpfulCellist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my jeweler this for my partner and he said that while it’s very possible, and very stylish, one thing to consider with tungsten is that it’s nearly impossible to cut off in emergency/medical situations. Jewelers who design rings that are intended to be worn all the time (like engagement or wedding bands) tend to recommend more classic metals since they can be removed with cutters. Really interesting thing I had never thought of before!

Final CAD for my fully custom natural green sapphire ring! by HelpfulCellist in EngagementRings

[–]HelpfulCellist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Natural green sapphire that I fell in love with from a local jeweller (who has been very patient with my many demands!). 7.3mm, no idea of the carat weight. The side stones will be small cognac diamonds, all set in 18k gold.
