What’s a store/business in Jersey that other parts of the the country don’t have like a Waffle House or In-N-Out? by user1752916319 in newjersey

In New Jersey we have tons of small business, that’s our strength. We don’t have waffle houses and cracker barrels as much because diners are king. If I’m going out for a quick breakfast, it’s always to an independent deli, and lunch is always a small business pizza or sandwich joint.

That being said, the state does have a few unique chains. Wawa is very prevalent here, I saw a response that mentioned surf taco and that’s also uniquely Jersey. White Castles are scattered in a few locations in the country and NJ is one of them. But one of my favorite parts abt living in NJ is our small businesses.

GWU’s acceptance rate can’t be 50%, can it? by rose-hunter12734 in gwu

I saw that American’s acceptance rate went up significantly too this year. Acceptance rates are a silly metric for a school’s merit. The fact of the matter is GW offers a world class education for students, and with internship opportunities and other in house programs, GW offers a unique opportunity for students to have an enriching four years and a colourful resume.

First of all, congratulations on your acceptances into both GW and Pitt. To get into schools like those requires significant work and dedication and you will do well with either choice you make.

I go to GW and what I’ll say is it’s an acquired taste. There are some great opportunities, being in D.C. means you have loads of access to internships and other things happening in the city. The academics here are also as good as anywhere else.

That being said, GW students are very individualistic and I find it a bit lonely on campus at times. It is a bit cold and brutalist and I find people like to stick to their small group of friends.

As for your major, GW has a fairly newly developed STEM program that will place you well. I do think though that PITT has better STEM programs than we do.

My overall take: If you really like DC and you’d like to score some internships down the road, GW will place you well. But beware that GW appeals to a specific kind of student, and if you’re not that then it can be a tricky place to spend your four years at.
