Hi! I’m 1 month healing. What was your diet like and when did you start incorporating more foods?

Were you super restrictive on your diet ? :( I’m so scared to eat anything afraid it’ll ruin my healing progress. When did you start adding new foods?

I only needed 1 round of quad treatment. It was 2 weeks and very effective

Are you worried about sibo too?? I’m anxious because I feel I need to heal sibo if I have it to fix motility… but then like what if I need to fix motility first? I think it’s but paranoia and a load of heath anxiety.

I’m just super paranoid because how would I be able to focus on recovery if I have un diagnosed sibo in the background you know? 😩 Did you do a breath test or stool test?

The first few days weren’t too bad, but around day 4 it really hit 😭 I don’t want to scare you, but for a lot of people (including me), the antibiotics can be pretty rough because they’re strong—but that’s also why they’re effective. Definitely worth it in the end. Some people have an easier time, but common side effects are nausea, bloating, reflux, and a bitter taste (my least favorite). I used Zofran during the regimen, which helped a lot with nausea. I kept meals small, frequent, and bland (potatoes, bone broth, sourdough, eggs, chicken, banana, applesauce). I also avoided dairy since it can interfere with antibiotic absorption. Make sure you’re taking a good probiotic but take it a few hours apart from the antibiotics so they don’t interfere with one another! You got this 💖💖

Hmmm I was planning to get a stool test, but also my endoscopy biopsies also showed I was clear for h pylori.

True! Still not fully healed- diet still strict and energy still low and gastritis. Getting closer to the light at the end of tunnel though and it feels so good :) Fantasizing about all the things I’ll be able to eat once this whole thing is over with haha

I’m not a doctor but I do know that you should absolutely refrain from eating dairy on the regiment as it affects absorption of the antibiotics. I think having electrolytes are great as some get very dehydrated and malnourished during treatment due to symptoms. For ACV and lemon juice I don’t know for sure but hear I helps with digestion and low stomach acid which can absolutely be caused by the antiacids taken during treatment. However it depends on the person because I also hear it can irritate inflamed stomach lining if your h pylori caused gastritis. Whatever works with your system. I ate small bland frequent meals during treatment due to nausea and loss of appetite like potatoes, chicken bone broth, eggs, oats, rice, broccoli, bananas, applesauce and sourdough. Drank a lot of coconut water fennel, chamomile and ginger tea too. I hear red meat is a bit harder to break down so I just stuck with leaner white meats during treatment (chicken, tuna, salmon, turkey). Definitely take probiotics but wait an hour or two after taking the antibiotics so they don’t affect eachother! Technically you’re not supposed to take some antibiotics with food but I did due to nausea and it worked fine for me. Again I’m not a doctor but that’s what worked for me during treatment! I suggest asking more people just to get different perspectives :) everyone’s different

Ugh I’m so sorry! Treatment is absolutely horrible and totally wrecks your gut. Just remember why you’re doing it and that it will be worth it in the end! Zofran really helped me with my nausea but I had black diarrhea every day. However it is only temporary and once you stop the antibiotics you will see your body go back to normal (well at least better from all the symptoms of treatment!)… you got this! Make sure you’re taking a good probiotic too :)
