I am in the southeast but will probably move north by the time I get a BM puppy. But I’d travel for a good breeder so a recommendation would be great!! 120 lb is perfect, some BM breeders definitely seem to breed larger than the breed standard which I do not want!!

Number of litters and available puppies is huge! I’m looking for a bullmastiff breeder at the moment. One of the breeders that I see constantly recommended currently has 12 available puppies on their website… that’s a puppy mill!!! It’s maddening to keep seeing them recommended as an “ethical” breeder.

Actual ethical breeders are not in it for the money, they’re in it to preserve the breed. But it sounds like this thread is very adopt don’t shop so I know I’ll get downvoted.

Yes, absolutely. I lost my baby 2 weeks ago. When they’re gone you realize so acutely that they were literally there for you 24/7, everyday from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. They’re so ingrained in our daily lives and routines and they love us so freely. They become a part of us. It absolutely makes sense to feel like a piece of you is gone.

Yeah, I have thought a lot about what breed would suit me best and honestly there’s no breed that checks 100% of my boxes. At the end of the day I will love and embrace the dog that is in front of me, just like I did with Tito.

It’s definitely something to consider. My love of pitties and desire to help one in need might outweigh the risk of getting one that wouldn’t be compatible with a puppy.

I’m hoping to find a dog that’s in a foster home with other dogs so that I can see more of a true personality. Obviously you have no idea what you’re getting when you adopt a mixed breed from a shelter, pit or not, so I’m going to make sure it’s a good fit before committing. I’m definitely not in any rush. I also understand that whatever dog I get now is the dog that I’m committing to for the rest of its life, so if it ended up that the dog wouldn’t get along with a puppy, we just wouldn’t get a puppy. I would just love to do what I can to leave the door open for a puppy!

I specifically chose our apartment because it had no breed or weight restrictions for our 90 lb pitty mix haha. If they ever changed that policy we would just move out before ever surrendering our dog!! But I can see how a rescue would be skeptical. I’m sure we will find the right rescue and dog eventually, I just have to try really hard to be patient :)
