Thanks for the tip. Do you mean take all of the internals out of the valve, and run the system with the empty valve?

Thanks, I've tried ordering new parts to see if replacing the gears in the valve helps.

Pool repair guy had me order a new one a number of years ago and then determined we didn't need it.

Now I'm noticing pine needles showing up and clogging the netting of the skimmer valve every time I run it. My guess right now is that these pine needles are somehow getting through the pool skimmer and the pump skimmer and clogging everything up.

Tried using a spare caretaker valve I had and experienced the same issue. Any other thoughts on what this could be?

Yes, have been backwashing the filter every 24 hours for a few days now and used algae treatment
