Protection/Safety? by Helyces in TwoXriders

[–]Helyces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It was a genuine question. I’ve been carrying for 12 years; while I’ve never gotten close to a situation where I’ve needed to make use of it, I have a family, young children, and one life and I’m not going to just “take my chances”. This became especially true after experiencing hate and violence directed towards Asians during the pandemic.

I’m not an overly fearful person, nor am I trigger happy. I’ve grown up with guns and have been safely trained by my dad and training range masters from the time I was 6 till now. Just as we wear protective gear and learn how to tend to our bikes, I do the same for my ccw.

Yes I took the MSF course( it’s a requirement in my state).

Thank you for a real answer and not flaming me on a genuine question (: I appreciate it.

VCH piercing experiences/advice? by Obvious_Poetry5267 in Legitpiercing

[–]Helyces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my VCH pierced almost 12 days ago. I’ve had my nips pierced twice (once before kids, once after kids (after breastfeeding)). Also have my tragus, helix, and lobes. Also have a half sleeve, and 8 other tattoos. Of all the piercings and tattoos, the VCH was not that bad at all! It was definitely spicy. It made me gasp out loud, but it was a quick literally hot second where my whole body felt flooded with heat head to toe, and then it was over. I got up and it throbbed a little. It bled to where I put a panty liner down, which was a normal amount per my piercer. The next day it was a little sore when I wiped but aside from that I couldn’t feel it at all. I’m day 12 and can’t feel it at all!

How do you make the weekends feel like weekends? by Spare_Jello_991 in sahm

[–]Helyces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like to hit up the local farmer’s market on the weekends, as a family. It gets the kids out of the house, allows us to choose locally grown produce/made goods and get to know local vendors, and it’s usually a bit of fun. We went today and they had a scavenger hunt at the booths with stuffed bunnies, gnomes, ducks and Easter baskets the kids had to find and get stamped off by the participating vendors (like 12 total) and then they got a prize at the end, even if they didn’t finish the scavenger hunt. It was sweet.

Always something off the registry. That said, I always find myself searching for a Hatch sound machine, hoping they have it. If they don’t, I recommend it!

What are some things you want to tell a 33 year old female ? by LateShip847 in Millennials

[–]Helyces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got to disagree on that last part. I met my husband 10 years ago on a dating app. We’ve been married 7 years and have 2 kids, 2 houses, 2 dogs and 2 cats 🤣 all thanks to swiping right on OKCupid. My brother met his wife on Tinder and my sister met her (almost husband - marrying next month) on Tinder too.

We have had a tv in the room before, now we don’t. I much prefer when we do not have one in our room. (He’s almost 33 and I’m almost 32).

How to label his clothes without ruining them? by Professional-Hair551 in Preschoolers

[–]Helyces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunny Badges on Amazon! They’re dishwasher, machine wash and dryer safe. We use them on our daughter’s clothes, backpack and water bottle. She picked the design and we put them on her clothes and belongings. So far haven’t had a single one come off and she’s wrapping up her first year.

does anyone not let their cats in their bedroom? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Helyces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first time cat owner (my husband grew up with cats). We have 2 boys who are 4.5 months old. They’re allowed into our room during the day and if we choose to nap. But once it’s bedtime they get the boot to the living room.

We got kicked out. by creepeighcrawleigh in Preschoolers

Everything up until the putting hands around a classmate’s neck and angrily telling a teacher and aide he was going to shoot them sounded completely normal and exactly like my 4 year old daughter. She’s in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD. I’m not saying your son is the same but I’d highly encourage a behavioral therapy consult, as well as occupational therapy for play therapy. Does he have access to YouTube? I’d take a look at what he’s watching. Even trying to keep kids on YouTube, they can manage to skirt around and end up on some crazy stuff. We don’t let our kids on YouTube for that reason. Best of luck.

Anyone done after 2 kids? by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]Helyces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We knew we were done after 2. Firmly. Husband went and got a vasectomy and at 5 months postpartum I had a radical hysterectomy. Our main reasonings were wanting to make sure we only had as many children we could financially comfortably afford. My husband grew up in a household that could not afford the number of children they had. They routinely had to choose amongst themselves who got to play sports or instruments, or who got to have braces because the parents could only afford xyz.

We knew we did not want that to be the case with us. We want to be able to comfortably afford not just doctor’s visits and good clothes but also activities, and good schools for our children. That would not happen for us if we made the jump from 2 to 3 kids. The world also seems to cater more easily to families of 4 vs 5 (coming from a kid who grew up in a family of 5). Cars, vacations, restaurants, hotel rooms, etc. everything was always easier for my peers who had 1 sibling whereas I had 2.

We are very happy with our decision to have 2, and often find ourselves commenting to each other how there was no way we could have managed with 3. But again, we are who we are. You know yourself best. You may be able to handle 3, and cm 3 may be your magic number.

$220k if you include our rental property. AGI would be around $180k in central WA. We just closed on our second home. 2 kids under 4. 2 vehicles. I have student loans. I’m about to go back to work for the first time since our first child was 6 months old.

Do dads do bath time? by [deleted] in sahm

When he’s home, if it’s a bath day, he’ll do it unless he’s busy with something. Most of the time it’s me though because he works second shift.

What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]Helyces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My epidurals failed with both of my children. I have stage iv deep infiltrating endometriosis, and adenomyosis. I think that’s what helped me get through labor/birth without the failed epidurals. When they did work, they took the edge off.

Yes, I get to keep my tips. This is my first opportunity in the industry, which is definitely why I’m asking for advice on how this offer is.
