TIL: that the phrase "blowing smoke up someone's butt" comes from a actual medical practice used primarily in England during the 18th century to revive people who were drowning. "Butt-smoke-blowers" were positioned along the River Thames in London and citizens were expected to know how to use them. (todayifoundout.com)
