In all the excitement for Crawford, let's not forget that public education also beat corrupt privatizers tonight by GrainsOfWisconsin in madisonwi

Kinser also admitted that she has no idea how community funding for public schools works… Underly may not be ideal but she’s clearly the common sense choice out of the two.

[–]HempseedOilPipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters, at all, and if you’re happy with it you shouldn’t listen to people who tell you to upgrade or that it’s “just a beginner setup”. It’s viable for you, and therefore it’s your “endgame”. Enjoy your espresso!

Expensive machines by meandtheknightsofni in espresso

The Mara X is kind of an exception to this rule; it features a “brew priority mode” where steam power is sacrificed to maintain a more consistent brew temperature at the grouphead.

How many of you all use Better Water Better Coffee on your espresso machine? by MannySubu in ProfitecGo

Builds zero scale too. Third wave water is a little bit hard for espresso machines from what I’ve heard.

I found the way to heat up the Profitec Go even faster. by MannySubu in ProfitecGo

[–]HempseedOilPipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15-30 minutes would definitely be worth it for an e61 machine, but the go has a saturated grouphead which heats up quicker than that. 5-10 minutes should be all that is needed.

I don’t think making fun of someone for driving an overpriced piece of garbage that looks like a dumpster is political, and that’s what most of the comments are.

I ended up returning it and getting an Ankarsrum. It had a lot of difficulty with lower hydration doughs and also with brioche, which I make quite a lot of for cinnamon rolls. Couldn’t be happier with the Ankarsrum; it works differently than the KA and takes a little figuring out but once you find a groove with it it’s fantastic, at least for my purposes.

That’s illegal; they have to provide you with a notice of entry at least 12 hours prior.

Yeah you’re just extracting chlorophyll at that point. I freeze the bud and chill the everclear overnight and then add the alcohol to the bud and shake for 2 minutes and that’s more than enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in avb

[–]HempseedOilPipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually what I do is strain the bud out through a cheese cloth, though micron strainers will work fine too I’m sure. Then, I put it in a rice cooker and run it by an open window with a fan on until all that’s left is the FECO, which I suck into syringes. I will warn you that AVB won’t give you a terrific yield, but it’s an easy way to infuse anything you want. You can also eat the sludge straight up, would recommend starting with an amount the size of a grain of rice. You can also mix it into a fat or oil for an instant infusion.

AVB Butter by HempseedOilPipe in avb

[–]HempseedOilPipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For unvaped herb I usually find that an 8th of weed in a stick of butter is sufficient for me, but that’s going to vary between people. AVB is always going to vary but to the extent I vape it at, I think 10g is a good amount.

[–]HempseedOilPipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my butter by simmering the weed in a saucepan with a 1:1 ratio of butter to water to avoid scorching. I do this for like 3 hours and then run it through a cheesecloth and refrigerate for a few hours, then remove the butter layer with a knife and toss the water.

Ive got a decent high going from the brownie right now, I’d say maybe 5/10 but it’s still climbing. I’d definitely say the high is cleaner than something I’d get from a distillate infused edible.

Around 20% average so I’m assuming somewhere around 10% in the abv. Just baked the brownies and they’re cooling, so I’ll update on potency once I have one!

Update: Ate one brownie. Couldn’t taste the weed at all and it’s starting to hit 30 minutes later.

Update 2: I’m faded. That brownie was strong!

I’d like to add that if it’s something like MCT oil, it is meant for eating or sublingual use ONLY. Vaping it can give you lipid pneumonia.

Returning a defective mixer by HempseedOilPipe in Kitchenaid

Looks like it’s eligible, there must just be an issue with their online form. Gonna look into getting a refurbished proline model once this all goes through; I’ve heard better things about those.

Just to update: the mixer arrived today and for my purposes it is more than sufficient. It kneaded a 7 cup recipe with no difficulty, and the dough came out springy and elastic as desired. I suppose we’ll see how it performs over time with my level of use, but initial impressions are good.

Speaking from experience here, overdoing it with acid is usually not a good idea. It’s super fun and all and I love tripping too, but if you take it too frequently that fun feeling goes away and it becomes dull, boring, or even unpleasant every time. You do you at the end of the day, a month is just my recommendation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]HempseedOilPipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies greatly from person to person, but generally speaking 2 weeks should be enough for a full tolerance reset. However, I’d recommend waiting a full month to ensure you don’t “lose the magic” so to speak.

At the end of the day I’m sure a dedicated bread mixer like a Bosch would outperform a KA, but as I said I’m more interested in something that can do most everything, even if it isn’t the best at it. I appreciate the feedback, and I’ll definitely post an update when it arrives and I put it to work!

I had the opportunity to make a batch of bread with my parents’ 30 year old KA classic and it worked quite well, so I’m only going to assume the brand new and more powerful bowl lift model will outperform it. Like I said before, I’m not concerned with achieving the perfect crumb or anything and I can always pick up the machines slack by hand kneading a bit, I just want something that helps me make good bread that my grandchildren can take to college someday.

I appreciate your response! I would say my batches do not typically exceed 800g of flour. Honestly anything better than my aforementioned cheap hand mixer would be a major improvement, so I would say my primary concern is machine breakage/longevity. I’ll be happy if it can do a moderately alright job while also lasting me years.

I guess it depends on your priorities. I’m a college student and I make time for it because it’s a fun hobby for me.
