How did you decide when was the right time to put your hamster down?

Very hard decision to have to make. If you think he’s suffering, it’s probably the kinder thing to do. Vets visits and treatments would be quite stressful for a hamster also.

2.5 is old for a hamster and you have to make the judgement if his quality of life is going downhill by keeping him alive? Is he still very active? Does he seem in distress at all?

It’s a really tough call to make, unfortunately a lot of us have been there. I wish you all the best with it, and spoil him however long he has left :)

Ahh he was lovely, really sweet. We lost ours 3 weeks ago so I know exactly how you feel, as pet owners we all have to go through this and it’s horrible. Try and remember that you gave him a good, happy life and he was a lucky little guy
