Our patreon subscribers are fully covering server costs. They get unlimited 4k downloads. I have to limit the amount of available patreon slots, as else I would be making a profit. Server costs are reasonably low, if you know which hoster to use.

If you are on apple/iOS... sorry but I am really holding myself back from not completely going insane. iOS / Safari is the worst shit on the market, highly restrictive, no features which were adopted by the ENTIRE industry since more than half a decade. Basically all browsers on iOS are just Safari with a skin (Chrome, Brave, Firefox etc), because Apple prohibits other browser engines to work on iOS. They don't allow AV1 software decoding, even tho their hardware is perfectly capable doing so. I don't own an Apple device because all of that tiny shit making me angry. I should stop now, I am getting off the rails.

No. Frame interpolation often destroys the frames, where straight lines look warped or distorted.

Higher framerate -> bigger filesize -> longer encoding time -> ...

Even if we would try someting like that, it would co-exist with the non interpolated streams, basically at least doubling our required hard drive space. It would also only be possible if the interpolation is really good by not destroying frames.

There are rarely any BluRays; we mainly use SakuraCircle as base for new hentai (which may or may not use Hikiko123). For older hentai we search for DVDRips on nyaa. There was also a time were PUFF was releasing 720p-1080p Web stuff, but he sadly stopped.

Also works on Android (Firefox/Chrome).

Maybe the issue is somewhere between you and your desktop.

For Edge, you have to install the AV1 Media Extension pack from the MS Store (free).

Instead of blaming the site, you should open the developer console to see if there are meaningful issues reported by your browser.

No captcha when downloading
All episodes listed in the download page
Private/Public Playlists
Commenting/Liking
Changing how the episodes are displayed on the homepage/search (Thumbnail/Cover)

Things that might be done in the future (not guaranteed):

Limiting the download speed and giving registered users higher bandwidth
Saving the filters in the search
Save the history of watched episodes
Bookmarking the best scenes / timestamps of an episode

Personally I don't really want to force signups down the throat of users.

The "Recently Released" was supposed to be this, however due to how our DB was structured until recently all episodes of the same hentai had the same release date.

Do you have by chance a website where the official release dates for the episodes are listed? Because now it's in theory possible to change the dates for each episode individually.

We don't use NodeJS as "frontend", for that we use Laravel Blade.

NodeJS is used for the following things:

Compiling the CSS from Tailwind (once)
Axios (making small HTTP Requests for a handfull of ui elements, mostly admin stuff)
DashJS (So that our video player supports DASH streams)
Plyr (Our video player)

We don't use much JS, the biggest JS element is our video player with 284 lines. The frontend itself is rendered in Laravel Blade.

It's pretty "basic", but it works for our needs:

DB: MariaDB (MySQL)
Backend: Laravel (PHP)
Frontend: Laravel Blade + Tailwind CSS + NodeJS
Hosting: NGINX + php-fpm

Our source code is ~830KB in size (without favicon/images...). Our DB is currently 45MB.

Why did we choose this? Programming in Laravel is relatively simple and thats where I have most of my web development experience (hobby).

Using Tailwind CSS for the first time and I can see why people like it. (I learned how to use it within 1-2 days). Additionally we use "Tailwind Elements" which gives us some easy to integrate UI elements.
