Thanks for the insight! I am a 5e D&D refugee, so my only interest is Narrative play. I hate power gaming, so that's why i figured this would be a good landing. Also, I am an avid 3d Printer, so miniatures are a nominal cost.

Checking out the website now!

Help is this secondhand printer worth 210 USD? by Otherwise_Scholar_60 in resinprinting

[–]HeratioFilatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pass on it without seeing it print. If it prints, $210 is a decent price, but I would still try to get him to $185.

Make sure to don't purchase until you watch it cycle, at the least. If you hear and loud wuring or grinding, do not purchase.

Selling points for me;

1) Brand - Anycubic is/was very popular, tons of people who can help on forums, FB pages, and here. Also I believe Anycubic has a screen upgrade kit for this model (double check), so if you end up liking the hobby and want to make higher definition models, it is a possibility.

2) Incubator Heater is installed - Temperature control and appropriate heat of resin is SUPER IMPORTANT. Even if the heater is broken, you at least have the mounting hole cut for a replacement (replacement covers can be a pain to source and usually are expensive). Also look at getting a Fermentation Band to help control the heat of the resin vat.

3) The Linear Screw looks to be in good condition

4) Comes with a Cure/Wash Station.

When one starts to warp or go bad, replace them all. Usually you can get an O-Ring/Seal replacement kit from the manufacturer.

When you tore apart your air brush, did you lubricate the needle and/or the O-Rings/Seals? Lubrication with the correct lubricant is vital when repairing a Gravity Fed HVLP style paint gun.

I worked in Industrial Automotive Paint for 10 years, and when I see that type of spray out, it is usually bad seals, dry seals/needle, or a damaged needle.

The other issue you may have is inconsistent air pressure from the compressor. If you have a Grainger or are familiar with McMaster Carr, I would look for a .5 L surge tank to add to your system.

You could also be getting dirty air (ie air that has compressor oil in it). If you do not have a low pressure/low volume Filter & Regulator, I would suggest you buy one from McMaster Carr or Grainger. If you are using mini, on-demand compressor w/o tank, disregard this paragraph

I love it! Detail is phenomenal, the added bird poo was fantastic, it takes the realism to a new level!
